Question How bad are Nitto mud grapplers street-wise?

I've heard that the mud grapplers aren't very good for street driving, is this true? If so, how long would they last if driven on the street 90% of the time? I love the look of them but I don't want to buy them if they will only last me less than a year or so.

BAD! It's probably the single most popular tire among guys in my hunting club. They are a GREAT off-road tire and like their namesake, are a fantastic mud tire - right up there with Boggers and Mickey Claws. But on pavement they get chewed up pretty damn fast, are obscenely loud and are pretty damn squirrely on wet pavement. Now I can't say from experience being that my hunting club is in extreme south Georgia, but I've read a good many posts from guys up north who say they aren't that good on hard packed snow and ice either.

Two brother's in my hunting club, twins actually with matching Ford F250 diesel 4x4s run them, average about 20k miles a year on their trucks and get a new set before EVERY hunting season and they pretty much need to based on wear. (It also helps that these guys have an insanely rich grandmother, LOL).

We do have one member around here who had them and got close to 40k out of them before they were about slicks, but he is an exception, I'd probably plan no more than 25k out of them with mostly road use and that's probably a little optimistic...

I've had the nitro mud grapplers in the 37x13.5x17 tires for about a year and a half. I've had them for 20k miles so far and tread is still plenty above half. As long as you rotate them every 5k miles and have a good alignment they will last just fine. As far as the noise they are very loud. Sounds just like a squadron of B17 bombers from a ww2 movie. I like the sound but I'm young and my truck is straight piped anyways. As far as wet weather they have been great. Far better than the khumo at's that I used to have. As far as snow and ice they do really well surprisingly. Once again they were better than my khumo's. Would I buy again... Without a doubt to be honest. My next tire will probably be the cepek fc2's though cuz of my highway to off road ratio. Don't need the giant mudders anymore. I need better rolling resistance and better mpg's for the future. But a great tire none the less

well i've worked as a mechanic at two dealers and live in the boonies so i've seen this tire a lot and i'm amazed anybody on here got more than 25,000 miles out of them. this is a tire for a truck you tow to where your going on a flatbed or at least a weekend warrior off road truck. another thing nobody mentioned is that they are crazy heavy and will kill IFS suspensions pretty fast between that and the vibrations they cause on the street.

if you want all terrain then don't look at mudders. when i worked at the dodge dealer we sold a lot of cooper and i like them since they bought mickey thompson their off road tires are 1000% better than they used to be. you could also get an actual mickey thompson tire or the cepeks i think i read it was you who was looking at them. your not going to find a better tire if you can afford them. thats about the only turn off on them is they are so damn expensive but everybody with them say there worth every dime.
