I was hoping to have a rebuilt engine in her by now, but that's coming very soon.

Thanks! I was lucky that I was at a stopping point so I could get some decent pics. I've tried snapping pics of the odo before while driving and talk about blurry results.

Very nice -- both the miles and the recognition.

Only 124k miles to go till I catch you

Coolness!!!

Yep, them 5.9s never had a lot of power for the displacement and get horrendous gas mileage, but they are tanks! I know a couple of people with well over 250,000 miles on theirs and one guy with a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.9 who has over 330,000 miles on his - third tranny, but original engine.

You need to let it hit that magic quarter-million mile mark before replacing it! I always viewed a gasser with a quarter million the way diesel guys view the 1,000,000 mile mark...

Nice!

I had a '97 that had 175K on it when I traded it in...replaced the tranny at 125K. Like Hammer said...those 360's are bulletproof. The 318's were the same way.

Sweet. Hoping to get mine to the 200k mark with original tranny intact. Block would be a bonus but doubt i can keep that stock for another 75k.

Thanks guy! She still runs so strongly even considering her age, and I've had very few problems - thanks to the knowledge from this forum I have become a 'shade tree mechanic' and that has helped considerably with me keeping up on the maintenance and repairs. I think the only thing that will bother me when I get the new engine is having to try real hard to baby her. Just the other day I beat a new Challenger off the line at a red light - but I doubt he gave his 100% at first, but he certainly didn't expect this Ram to take off the way it did either LOL

BTW, I didn't see it mentioned here, I saw this from our sister site DF...

Click on "I need customer assistance", then click on "send us an email"
Fill out the quick form, in the comment box I wrote about how dependable my truck has been over the years and all the enjoyment I get from it. About 2 weeks later I got a nice big envelope with that heavy duty metal frame and a short letter from Chrysler. I think the best part was the letter was really hand signed by a real person!!! Not just printed out with blue ink, gave it a nice personal touch.
I think they do the frames for 100K, 200K, 300K, etc.

I'm only 84K away from that mark. At the rate I'm pilin' on the miles, I should hit the 200K mark in about twelve years.
