Default Help me design my lift+wheels, need some creative input!

So I have a limited budget but I want to get a slight lift and some new wheels/tires. These are my thoughts so far:

3 inch body lift or just a level

16-20 inch wheels, black, nothing flashy but not crawlers.

Would like 34's, something aggressive but cost efficient.

Throw out some suggestions on what you think would look good!

2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Regular Cab 4.7L V8

Would prefer a cost efficient setup.

How much is your budget? A body lift will run 300-350 and Im guessing youre going to install it? Id check Craigslist for some rims and tires first.

i body lift wont level the truck so i would go with a level kit and its cheaper. 16s wont fit the min is 17s. V-Tec Raptor good looking rim its not really flashy. Nitto Terra Grappler AT are around 200$ each its a good looking tire and alot of people run them Nitto Terra Grappler AT

You could just crank the torsion bars for free, or Rough Country sells a leveling kit for about $100. I agree on the Terra Grapplers, though. Gonna get me a set as soon as my current tires are done. As far as wheels go, I haven't done enough research to make a recommendation.

Here's the link for the leveling kit: http://www.roughcountry.com/dodge_4w...eling_kit.html

Cranking the Torsion Bars = Free

17" Cragar Soft 8 wheels = $70 each at Summit with $25 flat rate shipping for all four.

Nitto Terra Grapplers (305/70/17 or basically 34" x 12") = $225 each

Your truck becoming an instant chick magnet = PRICELESS...

Wow, thanks for the input so far. Very thoughtful of my budget as well, which is appreciated. I already have plans with a friend to crank the bars this weekend, i don't have a easy to use jack. As for the tires, I have looked into the Nitto Terra Grapplers and I am totally for the look and the price, regardless of what size I get.

Need to look at the Cragars still, but as for the body lift, is it hard to install with two people and moderate mechanical knowledge? We can follow instructions and have most tools needed in a garage.

Thanks for the help so far!

Oh, also forgot. How wide should the rims be? I see mostly 8 inch and 10 inch, and that seems thin for a beefy off road tire? Maybe i'm wrong, just very confused on that.

Rule of thumb: Wheel width should be 3" less than tire width with -/+ 1" being within specs. So for example for a 12" wide tire, wheel width should be 9" wide, but anything between 8"-10" would be fine...

Installing a body lift is a bit time consuming, but its not to difficult. If you have the tools, moderate mechanical ability and some good help, you should be able to tackle it in a weekend. I installed a PA ( performance accessories ) kit on my truck and was very happy with the quality and fit. Also seems to be one of the most popular body lift kits out there. Some guys on here also like the kit from Zone

Larry, I don't really care for fender flares, black rims and/or the whole "blackout" look... but your truck looks really, REALLY good in that pic! Do you just a 3" BL and level with the 18" wheels and 35" tires? Very nice. Perfect stance.

I agree on the PA lift and rims, for the OP. I have a 3" PA BL, as well, and 17" wheels with 33" tires. I don't have the bars cranked yet, though. As soon as it warms up a hair outside and I can get someone with some time and a level driveway or garage to give me a hand.
