Told the kid $50 93 octane and he puts $50 87 octane in my truck while I'm in the store. Feels like **** now. Had to go to 87 tune So pissed off. Usually it's nice to have someone else pump your gas. Incompetent kid.

Yeah, it's technically illegal to pump your own gas here. The attendants pump it for you.

 

I never got why they do that in Jersey. I don't think I've seen a full service gas station in over 15 years...

 

Jersey and Oregon, last 2 states in the Union that don't let you do it. I grew up in NJ, so the first time I drove to Philly at 17 yrs old I didn't know any better (no one ever told me) and I sat in a gas station for probably 10 min before I noticed everyone else. I'd rather pump my own, I know what's going in and I don't have to wait for some *** clown to finally get over to me.

 

Funny thought. Im from PA and you pump when your 16. Never expected this when I travelled to NJ. It is part of their job equality/stimulus program/keeping jobs. It really is worthless, but NJ is also worthless. Being from PA, we dont have much consideration for Drive too fast, pass in the wrong lane, crappy road loop, too much state corruption NJ residents. Oh well.

 

I'm old enough to remember when you could only get gas at full service stations and by full service I don't just mean they pumped your gas but it's also where they worked on your car.

My father worked a second job when I was a kid at a gas station on weekends, where he was the weekend mechanic and I can remember being 4 or 5 years old and hear him cuss up a storm when he had to stop his repair job to climb out from under a car he was working on to walk out and pump someone's gas when they pulled in and rolled over that line on the ground that set off the bell inside the car bays.

Don't see that anymore...

 

Living in Philadelphia and driving in Jersey a few times a month, I always get gas in PA, even though it's a little more expensive here vs NJ. Even something as simple as pumping gas, I like knowing it's done right.

 

Side note: got gas in my Jeep today, $4.13 a gallon. Great! Laid off and have all the time I didn't have before to fish and play golf and no money for gas to get there!!!

 

The 2012 gas climb has begun I guess.

I am from a small"er" town in pa (Altoona - Population 60,000) and we have "America's oldest gas station" It really is nice to go there. They pump your gas, clean the windows, check tire pressure and ask if you want them to check your fluids. All for free. The great thing is the demeanor is comforting and they don't try to screw you with lies, but they just assist in maintaining your vehicle. I usually tip them a buck or 2 just for gas and a couple more if I want the tire pressure adjusted. It is totally worth it.
