I am looking into purchasing a tuner for my 07 Ram 2500HD 5.7L and am wondering which is the best, Edge, Superchips, or others? Any first-hand users out there with input on their experience?

 

I have a 07 1500 with 5.7.. I bought the edge and loved the display but that was about it. It really made the tranny shift hard and couldnt disable the MDS. Sent it back and went with the flashpaq by superchips. love it. everything works great and get great power. The fuel mileage on the edge is a lot better than the flashpaq but its a hemi, its gona drink. Thats my run ins with both.......

 

Superchips all the way. You'll need to spend $40 more on the advance trans tuning feature! You can eliminate Torque Management, alter partial upshifts/dowshifts..etc. You'll have total control to make your tranny shift when you want at a specific speed or throttle pressure. It's unbeatable in the market right now.
Edge is nice with a fancy holder that you can look at visuals. No real comparison to the Superchips performance side.

 

Which superchip option are you talking about, the flashpaq or the cortex? Also has anyone heard anything about Diablo?

 

The flashpaq and cortex are the same but one has a tyranny warranty I believe. Diablo doesn't have the tyranny support like superchips but if you plan on major engine mods like cam get diablo as you can get custom tunes.

 

Cortex is the one with the powertrain warranty right? I'll probably end up with that one if not that much more expensive.

 

Yes, but if you plan on buying the optional transmission tuning, save your money and buy the 3865 instead of the Cortex. The second you download the granny tunes, you void the powertrain coverage...

BTW, Superchips now owns Edge...

sorry for bringing up an old thread, but i have a 5 speed manual gearbox...... i found a edge tuner for $200 that will work on my 05 hemi 2500 hd....... or would it be worth buying a brand new superchips?? the guy claims he used it 2 or 3 times, but doesn't need it as he mostly drives around town..... sounds like it doesn't work, or he isn't to happy with the performance it made. all pics. show the box, the tuner, cables, an instructions, an he also gave the model number, i looked it up it so it will work on my truck.

 

didn't see the superchips bought edge, lol....... well i guess this would be a supechips then, he also claims it's a few months old. edge evo ht 36030
