I am thinking about removing my muffler and putting in a pipe. Any thoughts on it?

 

Ya..LOUD..If I was you I would put a cherrybomb glasspack on it which is a straight through muffler but it still muffles sound a little bit

 

Can you still get them at any local auto parts stores or would I have to go to a shop?

 

CB Glasspacks??? ANY auto parts store should either carry them or be able to get them in a day. They are ALL OVER the interweb cheap also.

I had a pair on an early '70s Chevy Nova (350CI, 4BBL) I had when I was in high school and it sounded awesome.

Never heard a Cherry Bomb I didn't like. Currently running their Extreme muffler on my truck...

 

You like the extreme muffler?

 

Yep, it's deep and loud as hell when you get on it but not overkill at idle. Also, unlike the Flowmaster 50HD it replaced, it doesn't drone in the cab.

Whichever way you decide to go, be it straight pipe, glass pack or different muffler, be sure you cut out that ultra restrictive factory "Y" before the muffler...

+1 on what Hammer said on the Cherrybomb Extreme, that's going to be my next muffler when I do my full exhaust change out, I was going to mention it but figured you wanted the straight through exhaust

 

I agree CB extreme sounding muffler. Its my next muffler im gonna put on.

 

You guys all have the 5.7 Hemi in yours?

I have the 4.7 in mine, how much will that factor in?
