Checklist - 4.7L Upgrades
I just Purchased $1000 in mods for my '03 4.7L 4x2 short cab long box
I have not bolted them on yet .. I wanted to ask the community what to expect when installing these mods (my truck is my only ride so I can't have days or weeks of downtime). If there is anything extra I may need or should include please chime in, I appreciate all comments!
I just odered the following...
Gibson Headers (stainless)
Features
Switch to Gibson headers and discover gains of 10-20 horsepower and 10-30 lbs. of torque. The smooth mandrel-bent tubing is custom dyno-tuned for your year, make and model to deliver the best possible performance. Plus, Gibson headers increase your engine's efficiency by allowing it to breathe easier and by helping it run at cooler temperatures.
Gibson performance headers are a direct-fit, bolt replacement for the factory manifold and utilize the stock crossover pipes. And, Gibson headers won't void factory warranties.
Fitch fuel catalyst
Features
Boost power, reduce emissions and save at the pump while you’re at it. The Fitch Fuel Catalyst enhances gasoline by boosting octane and bolsters diesel by improving cetane and lubricity. Designed in union with the Department of Defense, Fitch boosts all fuel types—diesel, gas, even JP fuels.
Fitch Fuel Catalyst pre-treats fuel before combustion. By running through Fitch’s proprietary metal alloy, normal fuels transform into superior-quality fuels. And, quality fuel means more power, increased MPGs and lower emissions. Plus, it allows premium-fuel engines to run lower-grade gas with no performance loss.
Not to worry, the Fitch Fuel Catalyst simply bolts right in under the hood. Each system comes with vehicle-specific quick-release fittings, so it’s easy to patch right in-line with your vehicle’s fuel system. What’s more, your Fitch Fuel Catalyst system is backed by a 250,000 mile warranty.
Throttle body spacer ------ JUNK --- CANCELLED ORDER -- THANKS GUYS!!
Features
Taylor Cable works a bit different than ordinary performance outfits. That is, they like to use tested technology to give you the most power possible. The Helix Power Tower PLUS Throttle Body Spacer? Well, it’s a perfect example of the Taylor Cable difference.
Bottom-end spacers are just a slab with a bored hole. One notch up, you’ve got the slab with a bored hole and fins that whistles while it works. Then comes the Helix Power Tower PLUS Throttle Body Spacer’s expert crafting and design. The difference? The Helix Power Tower PLUS is dyno and flow bench tested to create perfect air turbulence, better detonation, and more power.
How much power? Try up to 22 HP with up to a 25 ft. lb. torque chaser, depending on your driving style. And mileage? Well, if you’re into backing off the gas a bit to save a few bucks, you can get up to 4 MPG back.

2011- 4.7L INTAKE MANIFOLD - FACTORY REPLACEMENT - (99-07 4.7L UPGRADE) with adaptor plate for '03 Throttle Body
I really wanted to add Safe shot Wet NOS (35 or 55 shot) but there isn't a refill station anywhere near me and it will cost about $70 per fill!! Otherwise I woud!
I also want to buy a new stainless diff cover.
Questions:
1)Are these mods truly 'bolt on' or will I need to make modifications?
2)Do I need a "Y" pipe after the headers and will I need to weld that?
3)Will I be able to 'custom tune' my ride or will I need to have that done professionally?
4)Did I just waste money on the Throttle body spacer if I buy the 2008 intake? ------ JUNK --- CANCELLED ORDER -- THANKS GUYS!!
5)What kind of gains should I expect from these mods?
I currently have:
Complete long block rebuild 10,000 miles ago
Autolite plugs
Custom CAI w/K&N
New Rad, fan clutch, E-fan, water pump, belt
Magnaflow muffler
20" rims with low profile Falken rubber
Feel free to add anything ... Thanks in advance

Gibson Headers...Nice addition. You'll be pleased with low end-midrange performance as well as a slightly aggressive tone.
Superchips...Excellent tuner. Click on my sig link for more info. Too bad it doesnt offer the advanced trans tuning option for the lonely 2003's, but then agian, nobody does...bummer
T/B spacer...well, you've been had on this one. If you can return it before you install it I would highly suggest doing so and spending your money on something useful. It really, truley does nothing. I hate being the bearer of bad news especially on Mod stuff, but it's true. Try and return it.
Airram...He sells good stuff. Not sure if the intake will do anything for you or not. I haven't done my research on it at all so I cant help you out there. 2 out of 3 is best i can do for ya.
Congrats on the mods! Next up is pics of them installed!!!!!!!!!

Thottle body spacer order has been cancelled. - Thanks guys!!
Anyone care to comment on the 2008-2011 intake? I hear the 2008-up rams have alot more horsepower because of this .. and cams.

I am curious as to what the 'fuel catalyst' actually does. All the rest of the stuff should be good. You should be able to do the TMR delete since you have a 45RFE trans. Do a search for TMR delete mod and it will show you how.

Has anyone tried this? I'm looking forward to trying it but I'm not usually the guinea pig type.

2011- 4.7L INTAKE MANIFOLD - FACTORY REPLACEMENT - (99-07 4.7L UPGRADE)
LOCATOR ID: 1334
BRAND: MOPAR
PART #53X32761AJ
Price:
$313.77
FREE SHIPPING!
Description:
This is a FACTORY REPLACEMENT 2008-2012 4.7L Intake manifold. It can be used on Previous years with the use of a throttle body adapter. 2006-2007 may require an EGR delete and SCT tune.
Details:
The Adapter will allow you to mount the Older 3-bolt pattern throttle body to the new 2008 4-bolt pattern. JEEP OWNERS PLEASE SEE "MODIFICATIONS"
The original 4.7L's had 510mm intake runners. The HO intake when it cam out had 415mm intake runners. When the intakes were made common in 2003-2004 all 4.7L's got the 415mm HO intake runner lengths.
The 2008 4.7L intake has 350mm long intake runners and it will make the most HP of any 4.7L intake manifold. The 2008 4.7L cams are also good for over 305 SAE corrected flywheel HP.
The 2011 design is the new replacement intake for all 2008 & UP 4.7L engines. It appears to be very close in design to the 2008 intake with just a few subtle differences. The overall size of the two intakes appears to be the same although the 2011 appears to have smoother transitions with the absence of plugged holes left from manufacturing. They both share the same vacuume ports and EGR ports in the same location... all in all the 2011 appears to be an improvment in design over the 2008 intake. We cant say if there is a HP gain or not quite yet.
The original HO lost core design flows more air and makes more power than the later common shell mold design, even though they both have 415mm intake runner lengths.
Original 4.7L SO intake has 510mm (20.0787 inches) intake runners and is a lost core design.
Original 4.7L HO intake has 415mm (16.3386 inches) intake runners and is a lost core design.
Common 4.7L SO/HO intake has 415mm (16.3386 inches) intake runners and is a shell mold design.
2008 4.7L intake has 350mm (13.7795 inches) intake runners and I'm unsure of the exact design.
The shorter the intake runners the stronger the top end HP. The HO intake manifold with it's 415mm long runners falls on it's face above 5200 RPM.
The 2008 4.7L intake manifold with it's 350mm long runners will pull strong to 5600-5800 RPM (not exactly sure of the final rev limiter.)
Modifications:
1999-2005 - This intake is a direct fit replacement. Requires our throttle body adapter plates in order to mount your 3-bolt throttle body to the 4-bolt patern on the 2008 intake.
2006-2007 4.7L engines with EGR - The 2006-2007 EGR does get into the way of mounting the 2008 intake. In order to mount the 2008 intake to your 06-07 4.7L you will need the 2008 EGR. This will bolt right up and allow the 2008 intake to mount in without issue.
1999-2007 4.7L - You will require our throttle body adapter plate and bracket kit #TBA001
2008-2011 4.7L - This intake is a direct factory replacement Intake manifold.

Well, I've added the Fitch, did a power wire and the SC tuner and I ran a few sprints with 87 octane.
0-60 in 8.3 seconds
1/4 mile in 21.1 seconds
Headers arrived today. I won't get a chance to install them till Monday. I hope I can shave off a tenth or two.
I'd really like to install that new intake but I've not heard alot of praise about it.
Also, that TMR delete mod ... seems like I can't do it. I don't even have that wiring harness!??!
