Default rims?

Well its time for tires which means i finally get to ditch the stock 20's on my 2002 1500 sport. I have tires selected (285/70/17 toyo open country A/T) and have finally narrowed the rims down to three choices.
1. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...2&autoModClar=

2. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=9&vid=007205

3. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...8.5&vid=007205
I want my tires to stick out a little bit and I tried to figure the backspacing but anyones input on fittment and opinions on choices is greatly appreciated. And yes I have read the sticky, just backspacing/offset deal is confusing. Thanks, Nate.

Love to see another 20" to 17" convert!!!

Look for wheels with a negative offset and backspacing in the 4.25" to 4.5" range to get those tires out a little bit from under the tire wells...

I have been down this road already. Hammer and the guys helped a lot. I am going with a little bigger tire but chose rims with -12mm offset/4.53" backspacing. 17" of course. My tires will be nitto terra graps 305/70/17 and that is with front end leveled.

Rocks, for what it is worth, on the wheel choices, your second choice, the raptors, is what i was set on for a while. I have seen pix of them mounted up and they look good if all black is what you are going for. The first choice is very similar to the moto metal i am getting. The ultra brand wheels were in a catalog that my tire shop gave me and i spotted those wheels that are almost identical, but cheaper, than the moto metals. I asked about them and he told me they are okay but the finish may not hold up as well. Thats not my opinion, it was theirs. I know nothing about your third choice. Several guys on here have the moto metals that are almost the same as the ultras as far as looks.

Thanks Hammer! lol weed. Thanks greg. I do like the raptors but it looks like you can only get them in certain offset/backspacing so they're out. I like some of the Moto's but they're a little out of my price. Greg, I'd love to see a pic once you have your new set up on. The tire shop I'm getting my tires from also sells rims and a set of Dick Cepek caught my eye.

I like the look and they're in my price range. Am I right in saying they will stick out 1.6"? Stockers are 5.75" backspacing/+19mm offset vs. DC 4.56" backspacing/-12mm offset

Based on what i figured after reading here, that sounds about right for the 285's you are wanting. I think i am looking at about 1.75" overhang with my 305's.

Your wheelrack link isnt working. Cepeks are a good brand though. If you really like the raptors, they can be found on ebay with -12mm backspacing for $550 shipped. i am no expert but i believe the cepeks would probably be better quality.

I have a thread floating around here somewhere that a guy posted a pic of his truck with the exact wheels and tires i am getting. I dont recall his username. I will be ordering mine middle of next week and have them installed early the following week. I will definitely post pix when it is done.

Mickey Thompson/Dick Cepek wheels have always been known as having very good strength to weight ratios. I've run Mickey Thompson Classic II wheels on my last two trucks. Used to be they only made no-nonsense, classic look wheels (which is fine by me) but they are starting to add wheels with more of a bling factor for the kiddies...

Sorry, I don't know what happened to that link. Try this one

I have always heard good things about MT/DC (a lot from hammer lol) so these are now my final choice. I love the look and the fitment is perfect. They should look great with the new toyo tires too.

Hey Greg, the wheels you are referring to are mine. I just put on my truck a month ago.
