Default Help! What do I need to do to make sure these 20' Wheels & 275/65/20 Tires fit?

PLEASE, PLEASE, help me out guys. I need to know what do I need to do, to make 100% sure these 20” wheels & 275/65/20 tires fit on my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 2WD 8-foot cargo bed truck safely & with no issues. My car currently has the OEM 17 inch wheels & factory tire size. The tires I bought were Nitto Terra Grapplers 275/65/20 on a fourth generation chrome clad 20" Dodge Ram wheel. Do I have to forcibly install a front leveling kit for clearance or even without a leveling kit does the wheel & tire combo fit onto my truck with no problems? Some people are saying that my 2002 year Ram model with 2wd doesn’t need a leveling kit because the front end can be lifted/raised by adjusting some torsion keys? Is that true and even if it is, will that be enough to clear the wheel & tire combo safely? I try to check daystars website and no 2.5” leveling kit shows up, only a 1” economy thingy shows up.

Well, I can tell you this...whoever told you, that you could level it with torsion
keys on a 2wd is full of it. 2wds do not have tosion keys, only 4wds do. As far as the fitment goes, you can safely still a 33 diameter tire underneath with no issues. I do not know though if there is a difference between the 3rd gen 20s and the 4th gen 20s.
This should give you and idea...this is a render with 33s and no level..

It's bunk - first of all BigBoy is right, a 2wd truck has NO torsion bars, it's a coil suspension so you are listening to people who don't know their asses from holes in the ground!

Secondly, ALL 3rd Gen Rams that shipped with 20" wheels shipped with 33" tires. But those tires you are looking at are 34.1" tall which is gonna be close. I'd put a set of 1.5-2" pucks on it then the tires, get an alignment and call it a day. There are plenty of coil spacers out there in that size for around $100 or so...

Then I get some other guys in an other Dodge forum telling me this

"Well, first, you don't have torsion bars, so that's not an option. You have to do the coil spacers.

Second, your stock tire is only a 245/70/17 and is 30.5".

Third, your new tire is 34".

You're gonna have a hard time fitting that wheel / tire combo."

I just have double measured my wheel and tire combo and it comes out too 33".

I have 2011 20's on my truck with the stock 275/60R20 (33") tires AND it was lowered 4" in the rear and 2" in the front and I had no problems. Look at how low my truck was in my sig. They should fit fine. Jack it up, throw the front wheels on and check fitment. You will know in the matter of a few minutes if it is going to fit or not, and if not, throw the stock wheels back on until you get some leveling spacers. You'll only be out about 20 minutes of work.

PS: I decided to go back the other way with my truck. In the last few weeks I have removed the lowering shackles and put my O/L spring back in the rear and added air bags. I also decided to put my stock springs back in the front and added 3" Airbagit spindles to the front and bilstein shocks. Still running the same wheels and tires, but will be in need of a nice new set of A/T's soon. Pretty pricey for the 20" wheels though. How much did you pay for your tires? AND where did you get them?

Stock tires on an '02 4x2 would have been 245/70/17s but at about 11 years old I doubt you still have the stock tires.

Look under your truck if you doubt anyone - you CAN'T mistake a coil for a torsion bar and vise versa. You'll see coils - trust me. I've probably been underneath more Rams than times you've been behind the wheel of yours.

You'll probably "fit" 34s but will have an issue if you go off pavement at all and possibly even going over dips or speed bumps. I'd stay at 33" unless I leveled it if it were mine...

Tire brand also determines how big the tire actually is. A 33" (275/60R20) tire will fit on any stock 3rd Gen RAM. Period. Due to mfg differences, not all tires are their advertised size though. If your 275/65R20 (34") tire only measures 33" fully inflated, I'd install them. I'd also be pissed that they were only 33"!

Like Hammer said they'll fit but you'll be FU*KED if you go off roading at all with them. Even with my stock 33" tires I destroyed my passenger side wheel well liner from treating her too rough
