Default do I need different gears after 6 inch lift?

Hello, bought A 6inch BDS suspension lift and 18 inch wheels with 35x12.50 mickeys t's for my 2006 dodge ram 1500 short box last fall.
I live in the hills of south dakota and it is like a mountain range I guess u could call it ive have been noticing that climbing hills (highway) its either very low rpm's and as soon as I try to get into the the throttle A lilttle it just just kicks down and raps out sending me speedingoff, if I try to let off again the rpm's are very low and it wants to shift but it wants more throttle. I also have a problem when im on the flats on the highway speeds 65+ where sometimes ill give it gass like to pass and my rpms will stay very high I have to either stomp on the gas peddle or let off the peddle for a sec so it shifts??

ps thx alot oo also it only has 42k on it so I dont think its a tranny or anything it just started doing it when I put the lift and tires on ive just been puttin up with it and just now starting to get tired of the abusive shifting when im tryin to chillax crusin on the highway

Putting in a lift kit and big tires like that puts a lot of stress on the drivetrain. putting 4.56 or 4.88 gears in it would deffinetly help with the acceleration and as for the shifting id get a transgo shift kit. That would firm up the shifts a bit. and it would be better on the tranny.

Glad i found this, now what about a 4" lift ( your typical lift) and 17's? I heard you can go 4" without changing much ( which i wouldn't do) but for now.

If you're 4x4 then go for the 4.56s as 4.88s are only for 2WD. But the 4.56 gearing will definitely help pushing you up the mountain. You could also look into a Superchips programmer with the trans tuning.

With 35" tires, you certainly don't need to fear the gear... as a matter of fact your tranny is probably begging for new gears. It should bring your revs back inline with stock tires and 3.92 gearing.

08, you have me stumped again. Why are 4.88's only for 2wd???
