2004 Ram 2500 Vibration at 65 MPH
Good evening everyone I have quite a dilemma. I am challenging the smartest techs out there to jog there thoughts and see if you can help! I am out of options. So here it goes:
I brought my 2004 Dodge Ram into a very reputable driveline shop in Salt Lake City for a slight hum I could hear at around 60 mph. they did a very thorough inspection and told me I had several components that needed to be replaced.
They stated that the Carrier Bearing was bad and a couple of U joints on the drive line. Front and Rear. They also stated that the ball joints were bad in the front end as well as the axle U joints needed some help (And yes they did show me and to say there was some slop was an understatement) none the less the replaced the following:
Driveline U joints front and rear ALL OF THEM, This is a long bed so all U joints on all driveline components, They replaced the front axle u joints and Ball joints, they replaced the tracking bar and some tie rods. They told me I needed to get it aligned so I took it straight up to the shop. As soon as I got to 67 mph i felt a slight vibration I had never felt. By the time I got to 70 mph the pen on my dash bounced all the way from the drivers side to the passenger side. I wen to the tire shop and they did a four wheel alignment and going down the road it was straight as an arrow. But guess what. SAME Vibration. I then brought it back to the shop and they said they would balance all the drivelines for me to see if that was the problem. they did that and Same Vibration at the same speeds.
I then brought it back to them and they said they would go through them again and see if the machine was off. While they were at it they stated that the drive lines had a slight oval to them so they decided to replace ALL the drivelines At their expense. I said that was fine. They did that and I had the same vibration. I brought it back they decided to try taking off the front drive line and drive it to see if that was it. Same Problem. They then removed the rear drive line, Same Problem. They decided to try ordering a one piece aluminum driveline with all new U joints again, this was to eliminate any angle problems as well as the carrier. Same Problem. They put all the drivelines back on and scratched their head. I then went to the local dodge dealer and they took me for a ride. They sped up to 80 MPH same vibration as at 67. they placed the truck in neutral and turned the truck off, same vibration, they sped back up to 80 and moved the transfer case to neutral, same vibration, They did state that while the truck was at 67 and slight while turning the wheel slightly to the left the vibration lessened when the turned slightly to the right it got worse. if you go faster than 69 the vibrations were global so there is no where to even come close to know where it was coming from. They recommended that I take it to a different driveline shop and have them check everything again. They did and stated my driveline work was beautiful and it was perfectly balanced as well as u joints were great. they asked if I had checked the tires and I stated they were recently balanced. But considering this I took it to the local tire shop they removed all 4 tires AND Rims SAME VIBRATION. The tire shop was kind enough to help, they jacked the truck up by putting the jacks under the rear shocks, chalked the tires and throttled up to 70 MPH NO VIBRATION. they used chassy ears and said that it sounded great. Non the less as soon as we were moving down the road. SAME VIBRATIONS. I then brought it back to the first Drive Line shop they said they were going to tear the whole front end down and replace everything they already had. SO NEW AXLE JOINTS BALL JOINTS AXLE BEARING SEALS and yes I saw it tore down. Guess what Same Vibration. SO Now Im at a loss. Anyone have any other suggestions?

I have had the death wobble before in a different truck and yes that is a very frustrating problem but I have been able to take care of it. This is not a wobble and move of a high rotational vibration. it by all accounts feels like a driveline. but I have had them checked and verified by multiple driveline companies, this is where I have such a problem. Thank you for your response.
