Default 2 Kids in a Ram? Doable?

Hello,

I have an old 1995 Dakota right now. She's been a good truck, but I have two kids now - a four year old and a 7 month old - and the club cab is small and a little tight.

I am considering a large car or SUV, but I like having a truck (I've used it a lot) and was thinking that a Ram with a quad cab might be an option.

My question is, how practical is this really? Do any of you have two small kids with car seats and are able to fit them in there easily? If so, what model do you think would be recommended? I want something with a hemi and 4x4 as I live in a snow belt, but close to work (gas isn't an issue).

Thanks!

There is room for 3 car seats in the back. I do that when my niece and nephew come up to visit. Put both of them in the back, along with my daughter...and room for 3 adults up front, or 2 adults and 1 teenager in my case. And everyone has leg room. This is the Quad Cab...The Mega Cab is even larger in the back. (but really hard to find used).

The quad cab actually has brackets built into the seats for car seats.

Only reason you need to move up to an SUV would be 4 or more kids...then I'd be thinking Minivan. Have you seen the cool stuff they have in them now. Tables that fold out. Swiveling bucket seats in the back. The Town and Country has the most high tech minivan. But like I was saying...if you got 4 or more is the only reason to go larger on the inside. 5 adults sit very comfortably in my truck.

For a 3rd gen. Quad Cad is plenty, Mega Cab is luxury. In the 4th Gens. Quad cab is still plenty, Crew Cab is even better and Mega Cab is still luxury. Can't go wrong unless you buy a regular cab lol

Yeah 2 or 3 wouldn't be an issue. The oldest will be able to sit in any of the 3 spots with a forward facing seat / booster seat but just keep in mind that some of the rear facing seats are huge and might not fit behind the driver or passenger unless the seat is forward some. I like to have the rear facing in the middle anyway so you can come inside to strap in the kid and get out of the rain etc. That leaves one of the rear end seats open for a passenger. The only thing I wish was different is the location of the car seat anchors since you lose access to both under seat storage bins when you have 2 seats back there, even if you install them on the larger double seat.

Yep totally workable Wolfstar.I have two about the same ages that I tote in my 3rd Gen.One rear-facing and one forward-facing.Neither are behind the drivers side however,as I like my seat pushed back.I have the rear-facing in the center because it is bulkier.I do have to reach over to get that one in and out,but it isn't that bad.The standard seat anchors makes it easy to install/remove the car seats as well.It makes for one bada$$ minivan.

As other have stated quab cab ram is fine. i have 2 boys that are now 10 and 4, and had no issues with room for car seats over the years.

I agree with all that has been said and would mention again that the rear facing seats really only fit easily in the middle. They can go behind the passenger or the driver only if the seat is almost all the way pushed forward.
