The hemi is a pretty big upgrade from the 5.3l. I had an '03 Silverado before this truck with the 3.73 rear end. It did ok but my ram pulls 8500# better than the 5.3 at 5500#. Not bashing GM here or anything since I loved that truck too but they are in a different league when it comes to power unless you get into some serious engine work or gearing.

Im torn, just looked at an 06 in incredible shape with 60K. Inside was very plain jane, nothing fancy at all. I know it's a truck, but I want it to be comfortable too. Guy is asking a premium at 17K. I just missed out on a fully loaded 06 1500HD for the same price and 50K miles. I really hate that the Chevy still has the same boring interior though.

Seems like the center console option is pretty rare in the Ram, but I really like it.

How comfortable are these things on long trips?

I regularly take a 275 mile (or 4 hour) journey to get home from school and my 08 is comfortable. I'm not aching at the end of the trip but it's also not too comfortable where I want to fall asleep at the wheel. The lumbar support is helpful sometimes too

Thats way too much (17k) for that truck. You can find something a lot better than that for that money I would think. They are definitely comfortable for long trips, I've done half a dozeon around 1000 miles, goes great.

If you PM me the vin I can send you a build sheet, check for recalls, and make sure there were never any warranty restrictions put on the vehicle.

17k is too much. I would pay 13-14 tops and that's only because you said it looks brand new

05 and up is pretty good. The 06-08's have slightly weaker suspensions, but they are not bad. Sorry all you 02 owners, but that is THE main year model to stay away from.

Early 4.7s were prone to overheating issues but the main issues were with the 5.9 that the 2nd Gen guys had such as the plenums and whatnot. But since the 02 was the first year of the 3rd Gens they generally had issues that were worked out as the years went on. Oh and cracked dashes of course.
