Full tank (25 gallons(I'm guessing I had at least 1 gallon in the tank)) of 89 octane when i bought my truck ran me $132, so $5.28 per gallon in Canada.

Just be lucky you guys in America haven't hit that price yet. It's a killer.
Ur grandpa is right. Actually just about every car now uses the same kind of fuel pumping system. And yes, the Gas is supposed to keep the pump motor cool. It was designed that way to remain submerged.

IM lauging at all of you, You having Nothing to complain abought, My 2500 Takes 135 LT or 35 gallons, long boxs have larger tanks.. (not sure imperial or metric) And I use the good flue ie 93 octane that runs abought a $1.30 here in Calgary.

If I were to use 87 octane Im hitting $135.00 ... that might get me a week in city driving on crap 87 octane..

My soultion was a 280.00 a month Elantra that will go a month on city driving ( to and from work ) on 53 LT ...

on the + side side I can gt close to a 1000 km highway out of that 135 lt tank if I drive at 100 KM per hour and use 93 octane, I love Cheveron in BC, 94 octane and the hemi runs mightly on that!! ...

There's 3 gas stations in Dauphin Manitoba that are at 99.9. They kept trying to undercut each other, but no one wants to go lower than 99.9. As far as I know, it's only a local price war.

I went to the next town over, about 30 minutes away, and it was 119.9.

35 gallon tank feeding a thirsty big block and a heavy right foot. That's really an ouch.

That's the cost for driving the power. I got a brand new Scion that gets 58 mpg on my trips to work. The gas saving alone pays for the vehicle, but that stopped after about 3-4 months. I missed the power and the feeling of driving the full sized truck. Went right back to driving the truck to work. Why live if you are not enjoying the ride?

I changed jobs recently so I'm not driving an hour to work every day, Now it's 10 minutes.

I fill up(whatever the pump stops at) approx 1 time per month for work.

I am lucky in that I live maybe half a mile from work. In the summer I walk most often. In the winter I take the truck. So gas really isn't that big of an issue for me anyways.

If we need to go somewhere, we take my girlfriends Ford. Even though it's all-wheel drive, it still gets a solid 36 MPG highway.
