Default exhaust help

ok so I just got an opportunity to purchase a cat-back stainless Magnaflow exhaust setup for 100$ brand new in the box, the only catch is its for the fourth gen truck does anyone know if this setup will fit my 05?

With the right pieces, you can make anything fit...what I would do is lay it out underneath your truck and match up the pieces. If a pipe is too large at one point or too small, you will have to get an adapter to make it fit. They are cheap and easy to find at a local parts store. Also check the hanger locations. You might need to make some hangers or buy some from the local parts store also. Measure diameters and lengths. Also take a close look at how the pipes go over the rear axle. Making sure everything will have clearance.

pretty good advice from sabin if you are able to do that. Also remember that those catback systems are like what, $750 or something brand new? So if you to pay an exhaust shop $100 bucks to make a couple cuts and welds, thats still really cheap. I don't know if the 4th gen exhaust will fit on the third gen though without modifications. It seems likely to me that it will be close but will require a little coaxing.

Yea I would say you'd need some help from a shop to get it in there but like Ewing said it'll still be cheap compared to a brand new kit. If anything just take the muffler and tips from the kit and have a shop fab up the rest

Alright so I bought the system last night and laid it all out to make sure everything was there considering it was only 100 bucks lol and I don't believe it will fit, looks like it bends up too close to the muffler compared to the existing stock exhaust, so tonight ill stop by the local custom muffler shop and see what he can do for me

sounds like a good plan, and a pretty good buy. Post up a video link of the sound when you're done!

The muffler and tips are worth that $100. I got my Magnaflow muffler $20 on clearance from the Summit Racing warehouse here in Atlanta. I got lucky they had one that would work on my truck. Single 3" in, and dual 2.5" out. 17" Long chambered muffler. I had to add about 3' of tubing to make everything work right. A foot to the front of the muffler to place it where the hangers are, and about foot and a half on the back to where the bends start in the back. From their, it's the factory 2.5 Dual.

sorry guys i havent had time to put up an exhaust clip up yet, my girlfriend was in a very serious car accident the morning after i got it put on, but i do have to say it sounds badass, the guy at the muffler shop took a few hours bending the pipes and said it was really hard to work with the stainless, when i do make the clip i will also include the new bull bar i got for christmas too.
