Default Thoughts On This Truck?

Going to go take a look at this truck tonight, I'd love to hear your thoughts. I'm moving from an 02 Grand Cherokee with the I6. I've read up on the common issues and the FAQ. Anything else I need to know?

I really like the LineX. Seems in great condition except for the seat issue, but I did some reading up on that and it doesn't seem to be too much of an issue to correct. Interested for your take on the spring work he had done. Is there a common upgrade that people do? I haven't seen anything in my searching. Decent tires, but I can't really tell how much tread is left. All in all it seems like a good truck, just over priced. Edmunds put me in at $11,600. So I'm interested in what you guys think.

Seems like a pretty decent truck, but around here it would be a $12,000 truck TOPS. Also, it takes more that just springs to up the towing capacity to a 3/4 ton. All he really did is make his cargo carrying capacity heavier and his ride a lot stiffer.

That was my line of thought. The post is from 9 days ago and he mentioned he was willing to work on the price in the ad so that will hopefully help with negotiation. I was kind of thinking starting at like 10k, so hopefully he won't get insulted or anything. And I agree with you at the 3/4 Ton claim, all the new springs seem like they would do is cause the rear end to sag less under load.

Looks like a pretty clean truck. I live in columbus, when I bought my 05 almost 2 years ago, I wouldn't have been able to get an 06 with 75,000 miles for 10 grand, theres no way. And believe me, I looked for a long time. If you can get that thing for 11,500-12000 I think its worth it, that would put you under 13 with taxes, pretty good deal.

Wait... is that a 4.7? I don't see hemi badges and it doesnt say... paaaassssssss..... or get it for 11,000.

^^^I didn't even notice that! Good EYE ewing. OP Keep looking for a HEMI, unless you can get that thing for cheap.

LOL a 4.7 1500 with springs = the same towing capacity as a 3/4 ton

Yeah. I'm over it. I get there and the first thing the guy tells me is that it needs a new rack and pinion. So there's a grand right there. Rear pinion was leaking as well so who knows what shape the differential was in. Rust on the driver side door as well down in the bottom right corner and a bit underneath a tail light. One of the 4 tires was also worn down quite a bit than the others. Story on the springs was that he put firewood in the back and didn't want the sagging.

And I can imagine ewing. I have looked at about 8 different trucks and this was the best. I looked at Ricart (All around 15k) and theirs were trashed. Smoked in and transmissions shot. Looked at another dealer today one truck was beat up pretty bad and throwing some codes (14k). The other was better cosmetically but had a CEL (19k). Seems like everyone around here has their prices crazy high with a lot of work needed.

I just emailed on this truck. He has 98k on it. Might go take a look after work. This one seems to be priced a lot more reasonably but I guess we'll see.

That 05 is worth about 11k I would say. even though its a hemi, 98k miles is def not worth what he is asking. nice looking truck but I would start him at 9k and work from there

Thats a nice looking truck, i like it a lot. I paid 12,500 out the door 2 years ago for my 05 with almost that exact mileage, so yeah I would say msorbara is not fall off, if you could get it for around 11 grand, that's not too bad.

Also, I just spent some time cruising autotrader after i wrote that first paragraph... seems like prices are higher than when I bought my truck, don't know why that would be, they are 2 years older! Good luck anyway, hope you find something good, you won't regret it once you do i can tell you that

Yeah I'm not sure what the deal is. Everything seems crazy high, but at the same time it doesn't look like people are able to move them because I see the same ads all over the place for the same trucks. Anytime I went to a dealer they were like well the 'internet price' is our rock bottom price we can't go any lower. While I'm sure that's partly true, I was thinking those trucks were all worth about 5k less than they were asking. I am going to see that 1500 I posted earlier tonight so hopefully that goes well.

I also found this but it again seems over priced by about 5k. To me that looks like a 14k truck.

Well that Big Horn doesn't look so bad, low miles, all the proper trim, no leather isn't a big deal, you can get some nice leather slip ons if you really want. the 4 speaker system is better then the premium because you can upgrade your self a lot easier with less hassel then the OEM built in amp and 7 speaker.

Id say the price is about 3k high. Plus coming from a dealer there should be some sort of warranty on it when bought. And should have been looked at by the shop, unlike private sales. Id say, try the truck for 15k, OR if they don't wanna budge on the price. Id demand an ironclad warranty for the 18k price, with atleast 3 years powertrain.
