time to see how this thing tows
time to test the ram. its a 05 1500 hemi 3.92 rear and 20"rims. truck and trailer are all serviced and ready for a trip across the country.
trailer bearings repacked, trailer brakes cleaned and adjusted and break-away unit functioning. WD hitch all set up. Time to see how this thing pulls.
trailer weighs 2500lbs empty... think i have 2500lbs on it?? Don't know the cargo weight but its a 16 X 7 trailer and its packed full with furniture.
Think is will pull ok for what it is...2500 with a better rear end ratio would have be ideal. I'm only asking the truck to pull this once...wish me luck.lol
darn...posted in the wrong section...how do i delete or move it?

its a 5 speed auto trans.
took it out today to adjust the brake controller. The brakes work great.
It pulled ok. The test will be going through rolling hills stuck behind slow drivers.
thanks guys

I did a Drive with an ~8000# trailer and a fully loaded truck... was a Yukon Denali AWD w/ the 6.0L... It had some rough times through the Denver area, but after that it was pretty smooth sailing.
The hills are a bitch, just remember to keep it in Tow/Haul mode or O/D Off Mode and you should be okay

2nd day into the trip...had a few hills but not denver size hills.
The truck is doing ok. Wish I could lock out 5th like on later models as its shifting a little to much on the hills. The rear end, tires and big overdrive 4 and 5th are making it harder to tow. Still the truck is respectable.
I did the same trip years ago with 1000 lbs lighter load using my 2006 2500HD sierra. It had the 6.0L, 4.11 rear end, 17" tires and 4l80trans. It could haul fantastic. I shouldn't compare the 2 trucks. I'm sure the new powerwagon would kick any 1500 series chevy makes. The ram is doing just fine.
