Talking cat back question

OK fella's, I have searched this forum high and low and I just can't find what I'm looking for. I found the thread on mufflers and headers but not what I'm looking for. I am getting a local muffler shop to install a cat-back system on my 2006 quad cab hemi with a single in duel out magnaflow muffler. My question is do I have them install 2.5 inch or 3inch pipe. Any input would be great.. I have heard about back pressure and just wondering if its a myth or fact. Thanks

If the shop installing is good you can just buy the muffler and have them fab up the piping. It will probably be cheaper. That is if you want to save some money.

yea thats what Im doing. The shop actually has the muffler. He said he has three to choose from, I think it was 14, 18 or 22 inch. I'm thinking of doing the 18, unless somebody can tell me different. Getting it done tomorrow morning.

Ok guys , got it all done today. Went with 2 1/2 inch pipe and the 18 inch muffler. Left the resonator on. Sounds really good when I jump on.it but still quiet enough inside not to drive the wife nuts. Muffler guy said I can come back and take the resonator off to make it louder if u want. Very happy with the results, will post a sound clip later. Thanks again

The 18 was a solid choice for the wife and kids from what I heard, its a good inbetween. Taking the back resonator (I forget if its only the 08s or 06-08s that have a front and back res) will give it a deeper rumble for sure
