The cylinder wall got scratched up. Not as bad as i would have expected though. I will have it bored out once the local machine shop inspects it and recommends what size bore i should go to to have fresh clean bores.

Have been very busy lately. Finally have a forged stroker kit on its way. Going from 345 to 396 cu in. Pistons are .030 over size. Everything is taking 10x longer then expected.

The stroker rotating assembly came in. Took the block and pistons to the machine shop for a 30 over bore.

I don't commit to buying pistons until they actually bore the block and confirm they have a straight and scratch free hole. Hope 30 over is good enough. Wondering how much you can hog out on these 5.7s before the cylinder wall gets too thin.

I took my block to the machine shop 2 miles away. He checked each cylinder and said 30 over would be plenty. He wont bore a block without the pistons. Each piston gets fit to a cylinder and stays with the cylinder. The old man has been doing head work and boring blocks since before i was born, he knows what he is doing.

Thought i would update this old thread i started. Just now have the exhaust sorted out (eveything taking longer then expected). Pacesetter long tubes dont fit a 2500 5.7 at all. Bought them and tried using spacers on the motor mounts but that was not enough to make them fit. Ended up getting american racing headers and got them ceramic coated. They fit the 2500 very well like they should. Block for the motor build is bored for the new pistons. Still need a lot of parts before assembly. Big hold up was knowing if i could tune the 04 pcm for the mods. Settled on hp tuners mpvi2. All my searches pointed towards diablo but i wasnt confident in its ability to let me tune, didnt want to have to spend money and wait for email tunes. So its been a long slow process but its starting to move along again.
