Default Repairing Scratches???

So I was trying to fix a scratch on my truck. It was about 3 inches long and deep enough to catch my fingernail. Anyway, I tried using one of the DupliColor pens but it came out too thick and it's just a ridge of color now. How can I fix this? I'd rather have the scratch then this mess.

Thanks,

Robert

Wet sand with some REALLY fine paper. (600 grit or greater.)

Post a picture... that would help. I typically will get a touch up tube with brush from the deaier, put a couple coats in there.... then lightly sand with 1000 grit or higher over the area to smooth it out and make the over brush disappear.

This is what I normally use depending on how deep the scratch is.
