Default 68RFE Rebuild Kit Opinions Wanted

Howdy!

New here, but joined so I can pick y'alls brains on what rebuild kits are worth using. Keep in mind that I am on a budget of right around $2500, MAX right now.

Instead of buying a used transmission with unknown issues, I opted to go in and overhaul my transmission myself. I mean, why not, right? Ask me in two weeks if I still think this was a good idea, but for now, yay for YouTube and a free PDF download of the rebuild manual.

Anyway, I am considering the BD 68RFE Stage 2 Build-It Transmission & Converter Kit. It looks like it has everything but replacement snap rings. I was thinking that upgrading to the Stage 2 would be a better idea in the lo g run over a stock rebuild. Have any of you used this kit and if so, what's your experience with it?

I am in the process of moving from San Diego area to Placerville in California (on hold til I complete this rebuild). I need to tow a heavy 3-bay horse trailer up and down California at least 3 times after the rebuild and have a few steep climbs in the process, so it's gotta hold up.

I'd appreciate any other budget friendly ideas, too!

Thanks a ton,
Kat

The kit is for a diesel truck, if you actually have a diesel, then yeah, that kit looks good. Assuming all your hard parts are good, that should do ya.
