This is an outside clip from about 2 feet away from exhaust tip.
Man I should have left off that rear resonator!

RE: 2006 Ram SLT Hemi Exhaust
ok so I crawled under the truck today (2006 1500 MegaCab 4x4), and Found there is only 2 Resinator, the Rear one behind the Muffler. The only thing infront of the Muffler is the 2 CAT's. Why would some have 2 Resinator's and some only 1?
I wanted to do a Dual Exhaust out the back, but I found out that the OE pipes are Mandrel bent, and Stainless Steel. So I'd be kind of stupid to pay $500 for a Cat-Back kit which is going to replace the OE Stainless Mandrel Bent, with Aftermarket Stainless Mandrel Ben Accomplishing nothing. However None of the local shops can do Mandrel Bent or Stainless pipes, So My delema comes in on how I'm going to get duals out the back!?
My options are:
$150 - 50 Series HD Muffler
$30 - Install, Leave all factory Piping
----------------------------------------
$180 Total
OR
$150 - 50 Series HD Muffler 1-in, 2-out
$100? - Compression Bent Aluminized Piping to Dual-Rear Exit,
$50 - Stainless Tips
----------------------------------
$300 Total
OR
$500 Flowmaster Kit - Mandrel Bent aluminized piping from Cats-Back w/ 50 Series HD muffler, and Stainless Tips.
Basically I feel I'd be dumb to replace Stainless Mandrel bent with Aluminized Mandrel bent, But I have no other way to get Mandrel bent piping from the Muffler back.
I really prefer the Dual Rear Exit look over the factory dump behind the rear tire.
Help?

option #1... im doing #1, pappy did #1 and TRHemi i believe did it too. itll cost less and be just as good. you can take off a resonator if you want i guess. itll be louder. so, what i heard, is that if you take off the res, you get a louder exhaust, take off both and its even louder. so its up to you now. i think im gonna leave them both on. when i want it louder, ill take one off.

Nah, I travel alot (commericial flights)for work so I have not gotten a chance to do the drive by. Also My Sister in Law has been visiting here fir 2 weeks and we take her back this weeknd. So another 1450 mile round trip. This time I am de-tuning the truck to use 86 Octane. I will also obey the speed limits in Georiga! LoL
TheChad,
Resonatorsare used to reducein-cab drone. I like the "Stock look" so when you look at my truck from the back you see the stock tail pipe and resonator.
Again I am likingmy setup, you can still hear each other talk. But I am old. LoL
My concernwith removing a resonator would bethe MDS with my setup you really have to listen for it. Remove a resonator and who knows what it will sound like.
If you want more sound I would recommend removing the rear resonator as it is farthest away from the cab.

Thanks Pirata.
I did make some video "with audio"clips of the after muffler was installed.
But I am telling the truth when I say I turned on the AC crusing at 75 MPH and could hear the fan whispering away. There was no exhaust drone.
If I open up the rear slider window you can hear the faint throat-e-ness of the exhaust.
This is a videoof medium acceleration. Kinda Throaty
All windows were up and no AC or Radio. The clicking noise was the camera strap hitting the camera.

RE: 2006 Ram SLT Hemi Exhaust & McGauhy's lowering kit
Ok, I have a New Inferno Red Ram 4X4 Hemi 1500 and I just had a new 70 series Flo-master installed today and removed the resinator and dualed it out the back with turn downs, it absolutly sounds great, not real loud but a nice rumble with very little noise in the cab. Then I put a McGaughy's 2"-4.5" Deluxe Drop Kit, it lowered my Front end 1-1/2 inches and the back came down a full 4 inches and now I can get in and out without a latter and it sounds great, I love it, and most important after I lowered it, I went to the front end shop for a alignment check andit was towedend 4.75 degrees, that's a bunch, (would have worn out the front tires in a couple thousand miles)Needless to say I'm very happy I checked for alignment, got it set perfect and now completely happy. Hope this will help someone doing a lowering kit, Good Luck, Lakeozarkman

Pappy, It sounds like shix when it kicks in so, if I'm somewhere I don't want anyone to hearit, I push the Trailer haul mode button and it kits it down a gear and sounds much better. I think I can live with it, I'll try and make a video chip next week thanks, lakeozarkman
