Default Dash Removal--Anybody done it yet?

I'm getting ready to tackle what looks like the broken defrost door TSB on the wife's 2003. Gotta pull the dash and the whole HVAC unit. I'm just wondering if anybody has done this yet and if they could offer any tips. Thanks in advance.

If your just looking to get to the hvac controls (assuming its the same as my 04) all you need to do is remove the bottom section below the steering wheel (2 torx screws on the bottom and 2 snaps at the top) then remove one screw from the hangar thing on the right side of the controls and the whole cover in the center will just pull out. Just be very careful not to break any of the clips when pulling it off. Make sure you pull it off straight and not at an angle.

It is a ton of fun. Had to pull the dash to remove the HVAC housing to replace the heater core.

I have to pull the whole HVAC housing and separate it to get to the defrost door, which is evidently broke. I'm not looking forward to this at all.

Hey red_neck, I like how you said that you only had 11 screws left over. [sm=roll.gif]

I have taken my dash apart many times. If you listen to what HansonHVAC said, you'll have your dash apart in no time!

I should probably edit that post, i found #12 under a seat while detailing the inside. Still not to bad, read a post where someone had 20+ so i feel good, not great, but good.

haha i had 0 its easiest to set the ones you pull out from one section in one pile and another in another pile and so on or even lay them right with the piece they hold in.

Now that makes way to much sense to do, heck that would even make the whole process go faster.
