CAI...which one to get???
First of all, I've read all about the dyno testing on the LX, so no need to bore us w/ more posts of that information. Now to my dilema...my buddy bought a K&N and loves it on his '01 F150 Super Crew (yea, yea, I'm sorry he has a Ford too). I've been looking at them for my '06 5.7 Sport. They have the 63 series Aircharger Off-Road Intake and the 77 series Polished High-Flow Performance intake. I've seen on here people listing a K&N intake, but which one? And once again, different places list different gains in horsepower and torque. What do you guys have that works for you?
i bought a cheap $30 intake from ebay and it's done fine for me....and i actually made it into a CAI, but adding a pipe to it and making the filter sit right behind the headlamp...but if i had the money then i would buy either the AEM brute force or the mopar
When I but it'll probably be a FramBoost. It has a filter that doesn't require oil. A buddy has one on a GMC and loves it. http://www.framboost.com/
Check out www.airram.com I just install the full CAI the other day....and it is amazing. It uses a K&N cone style race filter. His dyno chart claims a higher increase in horsepower than K&N's own system. I've owned a truck with just a drop in K&N filter (couldn't tell any difference) a K&N fipk "whole cai"(could tell mild gains maybe 10 horse?)......then I bought the airram (don't be too awed by the name...just a guy that builds these out of 4" dia. PVC pipe....but it seems like it meets the claim of his 16-20 hp gain).
I'm definitely impressed....although I also installed another product of his the "power wire" a wire plugged into your air temp sensor that basically lies to the PCM telling it that it's getting colder air than it really is (supposedly 8-10 rwhp gain). I just know that I can definitley feel a difference when I accelerate...and that bitch'll squat when I floor it.
Beware he's charging 'round $275 per CAI....I watch ebay and got a used one for $50. If I had the money though I'd go with a mopar or DUB system....or possible Volant or S&B.
Do your research......and be glad in what you pay for. Hope it helps man.

I have the Mopar CAI, it is excellent and made exactly for your vehicle. It bolts right on, takes about thirty min to install.

This is from their site, on your truck:
Aircharger: 10.49 HP @ 5445 RPM
77 Series: 8.34 HP @ 5392 RPM
I bought the 77 series, I liked the way it looks, adds some shine to a dull engine compartment. The reduction is due to the metal absorbing more heat than the plastic. You can buy aninsulator cover that you can put over either intake, reducing the air temp and help keep that shiny metal safe from scratches and dings... allowing you to pull it off when it is time to show off.
