Default Detailing Question

I took my truck in to get it washed and waxed the other day and the idiots who were doing the hand waxing got wax on all the plastic peaces on my truck. Is there any way to get that off? I have tried cleaning it with basic stuff but it still has white stains on the black plastic parts (door handles, peace behinde hood, ect.). Any help would be apreciated. Thanks

I would take it back to them and make them do it. Stand there while they do it.

I will admit that when I wax mine sometimes I can not tell I get it on the handles but 2 days later I know I did. I use HOT water and soap. The water melts it and the soap carries it away.

do not use wd40....toothbrush and armorall will not take it out. i am not a professional detailer but have a lot of experience and know a lot of detailing tips...whats my hobby? detailing cars for shows, ill be in pontiac nationals this july...what do i do for a job, i do everything at my dads shop, but mainly detail boats ect....how much experience do i have, more than enough......this problem is easy to fix, real easy...go to walmart or autozone ect and buy some "back to black" its made by mothers...put a little on a rag ect and softly rub it in. this is great on restoring the orig color of exterior or interior plastics to black...it will have a nice shine at first, but overnight will dry, but the white will be gone...then use armorall if u want it nice and sparkling

you can fix it faster than u can drive it back to them...it shoudl only cost a few $

what kind of soap are u using? is it a car wash specific soap or is it like dish soap? dawn is the only dish soap i would use. oh and while u use that soap to get the wax out of the plastic, wherever that soap drips on your truck, u mostlikely just lost your wax in that area

Forget all the fancy stuff, just go to Office Depot and buy a pile of the cheapest "pink" pencil erasers you can find. Just run the eraser across the stained trim until the wax residue is gone. You'll be surprised how fast, easy, and totally effective this simple technique is. If you're still skeptical, just try a regular pencil--pink--on a spot or two....

Nightrunner is dead on... I just used the back to black a couple days ago... works great. Use some painters tape around the plastic pieces (onto the metal) to not have to worry about streaking. Same thing works inversly... use painters tape around all the door & window seals, plastic pieces whatever while you are waxing, so you don't have to mess with the white streaking after.
