Our 04's call for 5w20, not 30. I use mobil 1 with a K&N filter and very rarely have to add any. I have just over 40k on my truck. you shouldnt be burning oil like that. i would switch to the correct weight and see if you still burn that much.
If that doesnt help, then...
I agree with 94RT in saying " 7/70 power train......."
If you dont see any oil on/under your engine, I assume you didnt as you did not say you did, have them compression test the cylinders. perhaps you are getting some blow by. I am sure there are many reasons this is happening, but thats the first that comes to mind.

I just spoke with service manager at the dealer. He feels that it is because I go 5000 miles between changes. Of course I got the run around about using Mopar oil / parts.
They are going to do an “Oil Consumption Test”. I will take it in on Tuesday and pay them to drain the oil that I just put in to refill it with there brand. Then I drive it for 3ooo miles and take it back for them to check. [8D]

I also never have usage in the SRT and Viper, but the Viper goies 300-500 miles per change (1 year) and the SRT about 2K (1 year).
