Tranny cooler
Right now I have 3:55 gears and im soon jumping to a 4:56, is the stock tranny cooler good enough to keep my tranny cool with the 4:56's or should I add and 2nd after market cooler? For you that have done this gear change and havent put a 2nd cooler in how is ur tranny holding up?
I don't think new gears would really put that much strain on the tranny. Maybe It would get slightly hotter just because your turning higher rpms but I don't think you'd need an aftermarket cooler. but if you can get one for a good price why not. better safe then sorry.

midnightrider you need to be very careful fi your drive shaft is aluminum. unless your a 4x4 it is. they have been known to fail under the added rotational force the 4.56 gears apply. the shaft reaches alot higher speeds then intended and things go boom. if your a 4x4 your drive shafts are steel and shorter due to transfer case.
ok, I got a 1500 2x4 BUT my driveshaft has rust on it, that would mean its not aluminum correct?
