Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel
I see there are numerous complaints on the leather wrapped steering wheel. I too am having a problem with premature wear, no matter how well I treat the leather. I'm thinking of removing the leather completely, but I don't know what the wheel looks like underneath. Has anyone cut off the leather?
Thanks,
Bryan.
Edit: Sorry that my first post has to be a complaint. I think ya'll have a very nice site.

Just get a steering wheel cover from Wallyworld for $5.

Except I went to theAdvanced Auto Partsand got matching Harley Davidson floor mats (front and rear) and a matching Steering wheel cover. But thats just me. Wallace World works too.
I found a gray one that's a splitting image match of the interior of my truck but I guess a Harley one is not bad either.

Never really liked the covers. Maybe I will chance it and break out the X-acto.

They wouldn't waste the money when they know its going to be covered.
Go for the exacto, just make sure you have a spare steering wheel handy because the stock steering wheel will look like hammered crap after the exacto.

My thought was that Chrysler would use the stock steering wheel, then send it out to have covered. Why have tooling for both? I could be wrong though.
If I carefully split the stitches, I don't think the wheel would be damaged. What do you think?

Point being auto mfg count penneys, 11 cents times a couple of million cars is a lot of money.
They are not going to waste money finishing a wheel that is going to be covered.
