I would like to improve the fuel economy on my '04 Ram quad cab, 4x4 w/ 4.7.

I think that I am going to get a K&N Filter kit and a throttle body spacer. Any thought?

I installed a K&N drop-in filter and switched to Mobil 1 syn oil and I gained 1 to 1.5 mpg......[sm=icon_rock.gif]

I had a drop in filter on my s-10 and I noticed a 10% gain in economy. Does anyone think that the whole kit makes that much of a difference? I am not sold yet...

I believe they do help some, but you will get better performance from them by upgrading your exhaust as well.

I agree that an upgraded exhaust is the key, more air in, more air out.
all in due time.

Can anyone else verify dusktildawn Hemi, re 19.5-21.5 mpg? I drive quite a bit and on the past two tanks I average only 16 mpg...

judging by the nick dusktildawn is driving a HEMI, not a 4.7. Also talking about highway mpg, not average. I get just a bit over 20mpg highway in my hemi as well, but i average around 16-17 for highway/city.

I know there has been some testing done on the 4.7 at another site and at 60 mph this motor gets the best gas mileage. You can get 20 - 22 mpg steady. On the hemi you would just need to do the same thing. Try out different speeds on different trips to see where the hemi gets the best mileage.
