Default '06 Hemi transmission swap?

I have an '06 hemi QC. I despise automatic trannys. Of course, couldn't get a stick in the 1500 and I don't have use for a 2500. Any body know if/how I can rectify my situation? Will parts from a 2500 work? I have also been considering making it 4X4 while I was at it, but I think the cost and labor would not be worth it. Any help y'all can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanx!

i'm in the same boat as you. I have no use for a 2500 and I like RCSB trucks. But I would ike a CTD Quad CAb short bed iwth the six speed. but at a price of 40k ish and a cab / bed i'm no big fan of is kinda ehhhh. I've been thinkin about a 1500 sport 4x4 hemi reg cab short bed and then changin it to a six.

I'm know that the 2500 came as a hem i with a 6, it should all fit together, its the computers and electrical that I am worried about. One nice thing is the holes for theclutch master cylinder are already in the fire wall, but not on the hump, just the 4X4 hole is down there. Hopefully some one can help us out, right? Oh I had asked the dealer (don't laugh too hard) and the quote was up to about$9K and still building.

With all the work that will have to be done, i.e. cutting a hole for the shifter, buying the parts, and the labor and thats not even getting into all the electronics that have to be changed, i mean computer and all, remember the autos are fully computer operated, don't sound worth it to me.

I know it will take a lot of time and patience, but it would be worth it to me. Nobody (Ford, GM,Dodge, even the imports) offer a stick with a descent V8 in a full size truck. The best out there is the mid sized Nissan Frontier w/ 260 hp, 27_ tq V6. Even the Dakota is only available w/ a stick in the v6 and it is weaker. *Plus it would be the only one in the world*

Well if ur a person like me who looks at keeping vehicles for ten years or more then yea getting the tranny swapped in to make the truck all you wanted then yea. it's worth it. I agree with most but dodge does offer a good v8 with stick. The 4.7L is plenty power. My dad has one with the stick and it is by no means underpowered. In fact i'd love to have one but i really like the sport with the 20" chrome aluminum and the body color grill and bumpers

I used to think that automatic transmission sucked. After leaving a manual transmission behind 10 years ago I can honestly say the Auto tranny is the way to go.

If I can make it like I want it, I would keep it till I can't fix it anymore. I drove a QC with the 4.7, it seemed to me to strain, but I didn't drive it all that long either. Can you not get the sport option with the 4.7? I was thinking the same way...

Well y'all this is it. I even tried calling corp. and they couldn't help. Couldn't even build computers for me. Looks like a helpless expedition (for now anyway). Maybe in the future someone will have the same idea and exploit it.

Back in the good old days, there was a company that made a clutch kit for automatics. I think it was mostly used for racing applications. So you had to startwith theclutch but once you got rolling it would auto.

So long ago; I have no idea what the name of the company was.
