i currently have the factory infinity speakers in my truck and they sound terrible when you turn it up.
Has anyone replaced just the 6x9 speakers in the doors and if yes was it a big difference? i dont expect it to pound but just be able to handle a little bit of bass when turned up.

i havent in my new truck yet, but i did in my last dodge. there was a huge difference. If your really looking to upgrade the quality add a headunit and all new speakers, you won't regret it.

I've replaced mine about 3 times and it makes a HUGE difference! The stock speakers are terrible enough and I'm about to change my speakers again!

Get new speakers trust me you will love them, BUT it depends which ones you get.

I just installed new Xplode 6X9s in the doors and replaced the wimpy 5 1/4s in the rear with 6 1/2s which fit without modification.(I have a standard cab). If the rear holes measure around 5-5 1/2, they will fit. I also have an Xplode head unit. I just think if you are gonna change it, change it all as a system to get the full effect you want. The factory deck is pretty good for stock, but an aftermarket deck will work wonders.
Its 10 till 2am and i just finished hooking up the 12" Alpines and the 1100 Jensen amp and WOW does it kick A$$! Wife should be happy in the morning! Good luck!

Funny I stumbled on this thread because I just took my truck in two days ago to have two of my front speakers replaced cuz they kept buzzing when I turn it up. Result: same damn problem. I have the navi system so i dont wanna replace the unit (obviously) but wanna install a powered sub or perhaps replace the speakers myself. I dont know?

She sent me a text saying "Thank you!"
As far as the buzzing, im just wondering if you have the Infinity...
They have that goofy crossover mounted right on the speaker. I cut mine completely out so its just the speker wires going to the speaker. Sounds like it is picking up interference(engine noise). Try increasing the engine speed while turned up to see if the buzzing increases in speed with the engine's speed.

I do have the infinity's. I'll have to try that though for sure. I was thinking about replacing my front speakers with these guys too:

If you do replace them, make sure you use the plastic housing over again. I didn't on the driverside, but it didn't make much of a difference other than some zip ties so the window wouldn't take the wires off.
After install, make sure you operate the windows before reassembly of the door panel to make sure everything clears.
Also, there are NO door clips. Simply remove bottom screws, center screw and the one up by the mirror.
You will need a Torx bit to remove the door latch. I then pulled up on the switch panel and unplugged everything. Then just pull straight up on the door panel (1/2 to 1 in.) and then out. Voila!

Good info, I was debating to try and just do it myself or take it to the dealership (85 bucks later just for install) I'll just attempt on my own.
