Default Streeing Wheel controls + After Marcket Deck?

I have a 2004 Ram Quad Cab. It has the fancy Infinity Stereo that sounds like crap. I want to change the deck but I want to keep the stearing wheel controls oporational. At the very least the volume control. Any suggestions or has anybody done this.

Thanks

P.S. Does spelling count?

If you look hard enough, there is a company that makes all kinds of connectors to allow aftermarket stereo parts integrate to the stock systems. I don't recall the name of the company, but it does exist.

I seem to remember someone finding a module from Crutchfield.

I got my dad one of those, we never did finish installing it, instructions that come with it are useless.

Yeah, go through www.crutchfield.com... there is a universal adapter that works with any aftermarket with a remote control... basically, there is this wire that comes out and sticks onto the IR eye and you program the adapter to work with your steering wheel controls. From what I understand it is barely noticable and you retain the use of the remote.

Does it take batteries or does it run off of the truck power?

Great looking truck... what kind of wheels are those, pretty sweet. I believe that it has its own power supply, taps off something somewhere. I only know of a couple of people that have used them, I don't need it because I don't have the controls

I think I saw in one of your other posts that the flashpaq can monitor engine stuff. I think I have the latest update because I can do the 0 -60 times and such. Am I just a dumb *** or do I need to get the engine monitor stuff some place else? I got the wheels and tires from Les Shwab.
