Strange noise...Sounds like something dragging
I have an '03 QC 1500 and starting about a week ago I've been having this strange noise that sounds like something is dragging, muffler dragging on road kind of sound, but there is NOTHING handing down anywhere NEAR the ground. It only happens at 15km/h and faster, and its really freaking the hell out of me. I also had an incident with my 4x4 a few days before hand, I switched my 4x4 on, and when I shifted from park to drive it made some kind of crazy rattling noise, but it only did it once and I haven't had ANY problems since with it. I'm not sure if its related, but I wouldn't put anything past it at the moment. The dragging noise happens in both 2 AND 4 wheel as well. It seems less obvious when I'm at higher speeds as well, as in highway speeds (55+). I'm clueless...So any ideas/suggestions/gifts from god would be GREATLY appreciated...
Thanks

I don't have anything to offer, but that sounds kinda serious. If it is a constant noise, you probaby want to get it checked out ASAP before you do some major damage to something. Sounds like you have some parts rubbing together causing friction where there shouldn't BE friction. It would suck to have something fail at highway speeds.
I think I DO need to get my brakes done, they've been squeaking for a lil while...Stupid *** truck, needs new everything! I would be THRILLED if that was the source of my noise, I'm just worried its something more serious.
Heres what ya do... Go out to your truck and look between the rims and see if your rotors have gouges.. if so.. I'd say the dragging noise is comin from your brakes...
Nope...No gouges. At least nothing noticeable either to my eye, or when I felt them. It almost sounds like there's something loose and rattling, but I haven't the faintest clue what it could be. Everything looks fine when I get underneath.
Something else tolook atwhile looking at the brakes. Check the park brakes in the rear. I had my shoesseperate causing a scraping noise.

jack up the truck. all four corners. make sure your jack stands are secure. get in the truck, start it, and put it in drive. let the wheels spin and listen for noise. just make sure it is secure so that you dont cause more damage. duh.
