AirRade CAI and throttle body spacer
Anybody have both mods to their truck? I love the sound and performance I got from it, however in WOT its so loud that my entire dashboard vibrates... is there anyway to reduce or remove any dashboard vibration? anyone else experience this?
Thats odd... I have the Trueflow intake with the Airraid TB spaces and i dont get that, only thing i get is a loud whistling from the TB spacer due to the vortex it creates. Are you getting a check engine light or throwing any codes?
Aftermarket intakes usually create a loud notice, and some do create a drone, which would explain your vibration (although it does sound a little extreme that your dashboard is vibrating.) Many people have also stated that the throttle body spacer is useless on a fuel injected vehicle (they were used to better mix the fuel air mixture on carburated engines originally) but if you have noticed gains keep it on; I have no personal experience with the TB spacer myself.
That is my only mod to my otherwise stock hemi slt. I will double check to make sure everything is tight and no air leaks.... the throttle body spacer is supposedly to give me an increase in mileage more than anything, but it also makes it sound pretty mean and gives quite the whistle.( In my opinion it sounds more like a truck now
) I'm going into the shop on June 2nd for Magnaflow catback single out exhaust so i'll let you know how the gains feel with the 3 mods, but i already notice a difference with the CAI and spacer. The vibration is only bad when at WOT.... i'll take the CAI off and reassemble with tighter connections. Thanks for the advice.
Oh, and I am not throwing any codes either.... everything looks A-OK other than crazy vibrations.

I have a similar issue with my CAI. It has to do with removing the stock intake resonator. I personally don't like the howl that it makes. I would rather have a louder exhaust and a quiet intake. I would guess that the vibration is because the "howl" that you are getting now is somewhere near the 'natural frequency' of some of your dash parts. A vibration at the right frequency will cause other objects near the noise to vibrate as well. Like the opera singer breaking the wine glass. I would imagine that as the pitch of the noise changes, the vibration in your dash increases or decreases as well. Hope this helps.
