For a 1500, I have heard a 315/70/17 will work.

I see alot of 285/70/17 running around. Looks good with no rubbing.

I would stick witht he 285/70/17 if you are going to get mud tires, I had a set on my old truck of Dunlop mud rovers and those were exceptionally great tires, right now I am running bfg a/t ko's and they are not bad, but I think I am goign to go witht he pro comp all terrain next time. I just think that they will last longer, for the 1500 I when I had it I was looking at the dunlop duelers, bfg at ko's, nitto terra graplers, and if you want some nice looking tires that perform well the pro comp x terrains can't really be beat for all driving conditions.

Are you going ot re-gear the truck if you go a outragous tire like the 315/70 (35 inch)? keep in mind that gas mileage and performace will suffer. Personal advice, 285/70/17 is t he highestI would go on the 1500 unles regear, stronger axles and possible better brake system. The ram is a great truck, but you don't wasnt to go and break stuff to look cool.
