Painted Handles Completed

That looks really good i was thinkin of doing the door handles and mirrors on my truck but then i just covered them with chrome. i like your tail lights what kind are they and where did you get them from.

what kind of paint did you use? what did you do the prep the plastic you painted?

Cleaned with 91% Isopropyl Alcohol, sanded with 400 and then 600grit wet sand, then cleaned again with the alcohol. Let it dry, blew it off with the air hose and then sprayed 3 light coats of MarHyde Adhesion Promoter on it and let that dry for 20 mins. I use Nason base from DuPont. It's a little bit cheaper. Then sprayed 2 coats of Nason SelectClear 2K and wet sanded with 2000 grit and sprayed a 3rd final coat.

Was it hard to pull the handles apart to paint them? Or did you even have to do that?

I pulled the handles off of the truck, but not the two components of the handle. Didn't want to mess with screwin up the spring or anything. Thanks! I think I am gonna pint the mirrors. That's the first thing my wife said I should do when I got the handles back on. I've heard it by half a dozen others since too.

yeah they're right, those mirrors would look sweet with the handles painted too

Yeah. I just dread the part where i have to copy the screw holes onto abase to be able to paint them cuz I can't ley them down..
