Nothing better than a y-pipe out to open air! I drove my 98 Dak 3.9L around like that for 2 months! It was nice to hear the radio again when I finally put the muffler back on.....

Big 44, you have a V6. Flowmaster will sound alright at lower rpms.

I did this crazy thing over the weekend. I have the 40 SI/DO, so I took the stock pipe from the stock muffler and attached it to one of the Outs of the Flowmaster and left one turn down on the other Out. It changed the sound completely. The best part is that at 2000 rpms, I dont get any drone, but when I step on it, it sounds nice. I will try to get new sound bytes from it.

Didn't you have the 50 series as well? Was it a SI/DO also? Wonder how it would sound? I personally like the sound of the 50 series delta flow SI/SO with a 3.5" resonator tip the best so far.

I did. But that one had a 3" In and 2.25" outs. With the 40 is 2.5 IN and 2.5 OUTS, so not that much mods or purchasing additional clamps or reducers. So far I am liking this setup. I am still investigating the MPG issue with the change of muffler from stock to the 40. I will try to get sounds tomorrow and post this weekend.

If you had a drop in mpg when you changed to the Flowmaster maybe it was because of the lack of back pressure.

Thanks wishbone. I am inclining to think that my needle is affected by gravity than by the muffler. Its harder for it to go up than it is to go down. So when full it is fighting gravity as it moves slowly up, then as it passes mid tank, gravity does its thing and pulls the needle down faster.

Does anyone have a SI/SO flowmaster on theirs but with the tail pipe all the way back, much like stock? I've wanted to ad an exhuast to it, hopefully, to improve performance but much like all the 6's theres not much you can do. About 99% of everyone that has posted on here have regreted buying the V6 because of the "good MPG" and I'm right there with ya'. The only real problem i have with it is that there's no torque, plenty of horsepower. Any suggestions on improving torque or the jump off the line? Thanks
