Default new guy needs help!please

hello all! my name is frank and i have a 2005 ram 1500. i have a flowmaster cat back dual exhaust system on it and it sounds great. im getting a intake and superchips programer real soon. i was hoping i could get some help from all of u about other stuff that i want to do to my truck. i want to do headers. i love how they sound! i was looking at jba headers and gibson headers also. i dont know if there good but i read some where on these fourms that they were. if any of u have an idea of what is better id love the help. once i do headers i dont know what to do about my cats. do i just get piping and run no cats or is there a company that makes aftermarket cats for the truck. im looking for a bad *** sound and i think it would flow nice with my cat back exhaust. if anyone has an idea where i should turn for headers and cats and what brand that be awsome. any other suggestions to help would be great also.

Welcome to the forum. Don't know much about the pros and cons of various brands of headers.I could recommend electric fan, if it is a 4x4 get manual locking hubs, bigger trans pan and diff covers. They do make high flow cats that will keep your performance up and keep you legal at the same time.

If your truck is 4x4 the front end is always locked and releasing the hubs or adding manual hubs will free up power, and prolong the longivity of the truck

headers come in shorties, mids and longs. as i understand it, shorties give you more low end torque and longs give you more high end. dynatech makes a nice system for 4x, but i don't know if they have it in shorties. it does include a set of high flow cats though. after headers check your AF ratio just to be safe.

cats? you can get them anywhere. race cats, hi flow, oem's, cat muffler combos. open up any hot rod parts mag (summit, jegs, etc.) and you'll find them.

if you are just going for sound, then just change out your muffler. headers will make you a little louder, but the muffler controls most of it. looking for noise? go with a strait through muffler.
