Just wondering which super 40 to buy 3" inch inlet and outlet should be ok I suppose any suggestions on that and the second is should the inlet be center-center or offset on one end reason why i'm asking is because the muffler shop may not need to bend a pipe to fit, perhaps a certain offset on one side and center on the other may make fitting in the new flowmaster alot easier. Any ideas or does someone know which is the best configuration. Please help and also has anyone tried the super 44 on a hemi yet? Please help
Hi Jody,

Here is what I did --with Pics even

Took truck to Economy Muffler shop. Had them cut off the Stock Muffler (See Pic #1)

To make up for the size difference they had to install a piece of straight pipe. (See Pic #2)

As you can see the muffler (50 series Flowmaster 53057)has offset in vs out. No bending required and its all 3". The muffler shop you take it to will know exactly which configuration the muffler needs to be.

My main concern was to get better flow. But a little sound never hurts. You should do something to you Intake as well. (More in - More out) Maybe a CIA, all I did was a K&N drop in replacement filter.

The 40 will be louder than my 50. The Super 44 in pretty new, so I dunno can't help ya their.

I left both Resonators in the system. (All they did was replace my muffler)
Remove a resonator and you get more sound. Remove both reonators and Iguarantee you will get Highway Drone insde the cab. Also the louder your truck is the more noticable the MDS will be when it kicks in.

The total package cost me $160.

Hope this helps..

By the look of the trash can muffler I ordered the dual offset super 40 model number 953048 which looked like the exact same angles as the stock one.

Pappy, did your local muffler shop have the 50 in stock and you have them do everything or did you bring in the 50 and have them install it? If the later, what did you pay for installation?

I'm having mine done tomorrow. I can't wait. Flowmaster 50 series and dual pips out the back. What size tips do you guys have? I think he is putting 3.5 inch tips, do you think that will be okay? I'd rather have 3" but I don't know.

Pappy_FB Thanks alot for the help and the awesome pictures From your pictures I ordered the 3" center inlet and the offset outlet. I ordered the flowmaster's new super 44 part # 943047. I'm going to leave the two resonators on the truck and just replace the muffler with the super 44.
Thanks for the help Jody

when i got my flowmaster si/do kit i swapped the 50 series muffler for a super 40 (smaller) so i had to have a small peice of straight pipe installed to make up for it, was loud, but i still had that 1 ****ing resonator infront of the muffler, I added a 3 1/2 foot (or watere it was) peice all straight pipe in its place, ooo buddy this thing screams now..

I installed the flowmaster super 44 today. I just replaced the muffler with the super 44. At idle you can't even tell it's on but when you rev it up it roars a little. Not really happy with it because when the mds kicks in what a muffling sound you get in the cab, it's terrible. Not reallly happy with thenoise level ( quiet ), so just wondering if someone has taken off their resonators(one, or perhaps two off)with a flowmaster and if it was louder and if that muffling sound in the cab gets worst when the mds kicks in. That sound when the mds kicks in is terrible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sound clips from anyone would be great
