I would get the hemi over the 4.7 any day. I just got an 07 hemi bighorn 4x4 2 months ago at dave smith motors in Idaho. The msrp was 36,200 and i got it for 24,640 and they paid for my plane ticket as well. I live in Northern California close to the Oregon border. I have gotten 17.9 mpg a couple of times and the lowest i have gotten is 13.6 (all hand calculated) even though the computer is really accurate, on mine anyways. I do quite a bit of city driving and think that i could get 18-19 out on the highway if i did 70-72. I hear that it will break in and get better mileage once i get a few miles on it (i have 2200). My friend bought an 06 hemi 4x4 with the smaller tires on it and now has 8000 miles on it and he is averaging 18-20 now....up from 15. I dont think that i will ever get that kind of mileage pushing those 33 inch tires but 19 on the highway would be great. Anyways, just wanted to let you know a little info on mine.

I forgot to tell you......my 07 has the 3.92 gears.....my friends 06 has the 3.55 with the smaller tires since he doesnt have the bighorn package...............i liked the way that the bighorn looked with the 20's and figured that i could handle a mile per gallon less.

ORIGINAL: CMA

I just got back from the dealer. I've decided on the HEMI, but I'm really afraid its going to be much worse milage than the 4.7. I've been getting average of 18mpg with the rental SLT. This is being really careful with the gas pedal and staying under 70mph.

Dealer has the 4.7 with options Im looking for but is trying to find one with the HEMI.
Just keep your foot out of it. When I took my truck off the lot I had new car drivers syndrome and was seeing 16+ miles to the gallon. When that wore off and I got on it a bit more as I wanted to learn the capabilities of the truck and know it inside and out, it nose dived to 14. Drive it like a human, and your gas mileage will be fine. I agree with everyone else, get the Hemi. Always better to have too much, than not enough.

The dealer will tell you anything to move his inventory. Go somewhere else.

I found one 90 minutes from my house that I'm going to buy tomorrow if the dealer has it in stock. Its an Inferno Hemi Thunder Road 4x2. This is the only one with these colors and options and is exactly what im looking for.

Dealer let me take an extended test drive with Hemi and it gets better highway miles than the 4.7. On flat or downhill areas it really seems to gain miles when it goes into MDS. The 4.7 has plenty of torque for quick launches, but the hemi has just a little bit more.

Really hope he has this one because its _the one_ .
