Another benefit of disabling mds is no more surging from 4 to 8 cylinder mode on the freeway

 

Not sure why you guys just dont hit the tow/haul or OD off button to disable the MDS.Then when on a long trip you can still benefit the somewhat better mileage the MDS gives ya.I have heard people complain that its a pain hitting the button but come on,is society getting that bad and lazy that you cant reach your fingure out and tap a button when you put your truck in gear.After a week or so it has become a habbit to me.

 

I use to do that befre the tuner, but being able to use 5th is nice and the constant downshifting to 3rd when letting off the gas gets annoying.

 

Can anyone tell me if i can disable MDS with the edge evolution programmer ?

No laziness here. the torque converter locks up sooner in tow haul 3rd/4th gear and wont down shift as easy as od. I didnt buy a full size truck to put around in 4cyl. mode so shutting mds off made me like my truck again, not to mention that annoying exhaust note and 65mph surge. Turned it off and never looked back.

 

Nobody uses an Edge tuner. They work best for diesels.

I get about 20mpg mostly highway driving with no MDS. About 16.5 city.

 

I like the edge programmer, maybe i can disable the MDS with it, just havn't looked too deep in it !
Do all other programmers disable MDS ?

too the guy wanting a chevy because of the mds. the new chevys )7 and up are equipped with there form of mds as well
