Well, seems a few people here are running the 6.1 cam and liking it.
Exchevy just did hisa month or so ago, me thinks.
I as of yet have not decided on a cam, oh but I do want one.
Prolly be awhile tho, and I'll tryto doHeads and Cam at the same time.

I read in a magizine one day while sittin in the doctors office, that you could get almost 500 HP out of a Hemi with very little internal modification (i.e. Cam and Heads me thinks) you still had to do external mods like exhaust, intake, and PCM etc. They even had a step by step pictorialof what they did/used.

For the life of me I can't remember the name of the mag tho.[:@]

Thanks Horseapples!
That was it, and all they did was cam it. So I would think with a good set of heads you could exceed 500!
Sweet.

ezluva you can not just run a normal hemi cam as you have mds. There is a company out there that offers mds cams but I can not remember the name of the company. If you want to run something like a 6.1 liter cam you would have to get the pcm reflashed to shut off the mds and get different non mds lifters.

Has the procharger been put on hiatus?

Me thinks the 6.1 works with MDS.

MDS ain't a bad thing for aNA motor. I have my doubts about a blown or turbo'd MDS system. Not sure what would happen with boosted shutdown cylinders. Might be ok, just dunno. I am sure somebody is working on it.

However there are Cam kits that replace the MDS componets and if you plan to turbo or supercharge that would be the way to go.

The procharger is said to work with the mds motors according to procharger.

There is a company called www.thehemishop.com that builds hemi stroker motors for our trucks and they are very reputable. Anyways, they are about to release cams with their own grinds and they said they will be releasing mds cams which work very well. If you did simple bolt ons, one of their cams and a set of their heads you would be pushing some good power.

If you are looking into a motor swap perhaps you should look into a 6.1 liter hemi long block. You can buy an entire motor minus the fluids and belts from www.powerported.com for $6,000 and that motor bolts right uo to your tranny and all that. With a viper motor you would need to do some serious fabrication and a whole new tranny.
