Pappy where are you in FL?
I retired form Cape Canaveral AF Station(CCAFS part of Patrick AFB)
So not to far (about 15 miles) from Kenedy Space Center (KSC)
So pretty much directly accross the state from you.

Here be a pic of a Space Shuttle Launch I took from me front yard.

i'm looking to do a cam sometime in the future. for those of you who did a cam already, how did it affect your mpg? do you also have the 180 stat and superchips? if not, why not?
the 260 and 6.1L need nothing, but a 195 or 180 thermo with superchips will help keep the af ration on the rich side (depends from truck to truck) the 268 is good for a solid 40whp with longtubes and superchips. note this is on an 04 as the shift points need to be adjusted to take advantage of the power curve. the 273 is a monster and has seen over 60whp with a good tune and longtubes and cutouts after the collectors. it is not very streetable though. truck idles like a top fuel dragster and shakes like one too.

if your serious about gettin the most from a 268 invest in a wideband af gauge and an arc-1 at least, smt-6 would be better though.

thanks, dean. that is some good info. i think i want the 6.1 cause i want to keep it mild and have no issues. it's an '03daily driver. right now i got the superchips and lt headers. dyno says superchips richened me up, but people here say that's unreliable. so 180 stat is on the way and i'm looking into a wideband to keep an eye on things.
funny you mentioned it cause i'd really like an smt-6, but i don't like the price. though i'm sure it would bea wisemove. i don't know what an arc-1 is. i'll look into it though. the 268 is tempting, but it's just going to lead to more and more. i need to have a cutoff point, otherwise i just should have bought the srt10.....with 8' bed!....lol

^^^ im in the same boat as you man, needed a way in then out FAST lol. the arc-1 is like 200 bucks and if your gettin the af ratio get it man! ive held off simply due to the 300 bucks for the af gauge. i run an 03 as well and it was VERY strait forward on the install and wat not. truck runs AMAZING with just a cai and cutout and cam. just remember that you need at least the 6.1 exhuast springs for reliabilty sake. my cost with parts was jsut shy of $300 all said and done. less than the cost of the 268 cam alone... pm me and ill give you arts number for parts strait from dodge.

on a side note... the arc-1 will allow fine tuning of the idle af ratio and then wot. this is all most really need unless your running lots of juice or a power adder.

you'll be perfectly fine with the arc-1. the smt-6 still requries an af gauge too. and if your running just the 6.1L cam you;ll be fine with out a tuner as well! the pcm is able to learn the 6.1 cam perfectly but the arc-1 will allow you to add alittle bit of fuel or take some away to maximize the cam
