I was just wondering if anyone new if the 7 speaker infinty and in dash 6cd/mp3 player is worth getting and how it sounds....didnt know how many watts it was and if it was worth the extra $1200

 

Personal opinion is that for around 1200 dollars or mebbe a tad bit more you could get a full system with h/u that will outperform the stock , a cd changer, better speakers than the infinity's and a sub. so personally no I don't. but some people who aren't terribly picky over sound quality will say It's just fine although i've heard ppl on this forum say that it's not so hot then others love it.

no, don't get the infinity, the base unit in my 06 is crap, the I pod hook up is great, but as for the sound, I can spend 1200.00 on aftermarket goodies and have better sound than the infinity.

 

What year is your Ram. I just replaced my factory HU with the Factory NAV. So I have the upgraded HU and the Bezel that goes with it. Mine is a 2006

 

I have the factory HU with 6 disc, Nav and all the bells and whistles. I like the infinity system, it sounds real crisp and clear, but it seems like it needs an aftermarket amp. All my buddies with chevys have the Bose and I think it sounds better than mine. Though, the infinity's blow away any non-premium factory system.

 

Can you add an aftermarket amp to the factory HU and has anyone heard it after it was done?

 

definately go aftermarket, i did and couldn't be happier

 

Yes, this is what im going to do. You get a high quality amp with speaker level inputs that you run the head into. Then you get some high quality component 6.5s for the front, some good coax speakers for the rear (or low mid drivers) and a small sub for the rear. looks factory stock.
