well after reading all of this, i went to napa-online found the stat for 10 bucks.
went to the local store picked it up but dont you know, its too small.
damn that ****,d me off.
so dont try napa, they dont have the right one. it wasn't a stant.i looked online at stant and couldn't find
anything on there website so guess its time to order one.
the stock t-stat had 63mm on it and the one napa sez will work has 57mm.
well, at least i got some practice changing it out, lol.

Go to advance auto parts or their website and get part #14168. Freez1099 did you have to take the hose off to get to the bottom bolt?

yes i did take the hose off.i wanted to get that stupid hose clamp off and replace it,i hate'em.
if you have a wobble extension and a short 1/2 socket you should be able to leave the hose on.
other than fightin with that damn hose clamp,it didn't take 10 min. to get it off.

the part # that napa gave me was thm107.
thanx for the info.

I installed my 180 T-stant today. Took me about an hour becauseI couldnt get to that bottom bolt. I eventually said screw it and took the hose off. My T-stant was 64mm so I had to shave it down a tad but after that it fit nice and snug. Poured the coolant back in the radiator and topped it off with a little extra. I will let you know how it goes with the mileage next week. Thanks to Pappy for the great illustrated post it was very helpful.

Thanks
Matt

This may sound a little silly but is all the mod does is cool it a little? Am I missing something here?

Love you personality Pappy!!!

picked up my stant 180 today. I plan on doing a coolant flush with it also.

HansonHVAC I used a hand held metal file.....you don't need to shave much off anyway. Also I took the hose off and then took the top screw off. I loosened the bottom screw a bit and let the black housing just swing down out of the way. I replaced the original hose clamp with a more friendly regular screw down hose clamp. Good luck. She runs a lotcooler since its so hot down here in Florida all the time.
