Jimmy were you tryin to post up Moconsts wifey washin his truck lol.

wow night runner i'm very impressed. Currently with my wrangler I wash it with a good wash and I take my time and make sure to rinse the sponge everytime b4 I dunk it back in my bucket of wash. I then either dry it with soft cloth that i wash and store in a clean place then I use a spray wax like the ones that you just spray on and wipe off. I use that on about a weekly basis. then I'd say about four or more times a year I break out a good paste wax like meguairs gold class and I use that.

what are the differences between what are called "cleaner" waxes and then all the rest. I saw someone talk of that earlier in the thread about they can't be layered. but i've really never seen anything labeled as a cleaner wax. only once when i was at an autozone I saw meguairs cleaner wax. also what are pure waxes where do I get them?

I was considering moving to a three step process with a polish then sealer then a regular caranuba wax. but now my paint has gone to hell due to factory defects. my clear has begun to seperate so i'm basically fighting a losing battle to make it look good.

I just looked at your signature and youve got one of those dinky little dakotas. What are you doing in the ram forum with the big boys anyway?
easy there buddy, I have had my issues with dak boys before but trust me night is a very knowledgable guy and if your looking for advice on detailing he is not the guy to shun.

I wash it ("ice" soap). I dry it (absorber chamois). I apply "ice" polish (gently wipe with mico fiber cloth). It looks really good. I repeat when dirty. My silver 04 quad cab that is. I do not think I neglect my finish.... do I?

My car is seven years old and it looks that good.
at a national contest, could you get it to score a 96 on a 100 pt system? and yes, it encludes the undercarrage

thanks ben...cma, i used to have a ram, loved it, love my dakota....if i found a n/r ram with the same miles, and i got reinburst for mods, i would very happily swich for the ram..also, by looking at other places on the forum besides the dak threads, i can get more ideas for my truck or learn more on dif products or whatever...gotta think outside of the box.

as for the cleaner wax

the purpose ofthe cleaner wax step is to deep clean your vehicle's finish--to prepare it for waxing and polishing. another good reason to use the cleaner wax is to reveal the true depth of your vehicle's color, gloss ect. its a prep for multiple step wax systems which, with my experiance, when done correctly, look better than a 1 step wax and last longer. but it all depends on the products and conditions
