Default Rims Question

I want to replace my Ram1500 factory 17" inch rims--- with 20" coming off a 2006. The ones on my truck now are 17" chrome clad or steel. The ones i want are the 20" alloys coming of a 2006 Ram. Does anyone have any experiences with this or see any problems i just personally like the newer ones better also i think my truck would sit a bit higher, and they also look lighter. My truck is a 4X4 but i really do do much off road. Any sugestions would be appreciated. Below are some pics of both rims the chrome are the ones ill be replacing with the alloys.

the new rims will fit just fine and personally i think they are better looking also. Your speedo will be off if the tire diameter is different but can be easily changed by the dealer or with a superchips programmer. Also, whenever you go bigger rims the ride will be a little bit rougher due to less rubber around more metal. Shouldn't be anything extreme though.

I think you will like the 20's. I went from 20's to 17's in mine, but went to a bigger tire. The ride on the 20's is actually nicer, and the control on the truck seems firmer on the 20's but honestly, the difference is negligeable. You have to really try to sense the difference. Good luck with your new ride. They will look great.

What did you pay for your 20's?

I havent bought them yet they are up for bid on ebay. the auction started at 499.00 with a buy it know for 700. Plus 120 for shipping from Texas to California. My oem rims and tires are in good condition but i really like these new alloys Dodge came out with. I guess i can always try to sell the old ones if i get them. Does this seem like a bad price or shoul i shop around? Also what size tires would you guys recomend i want something a little beefier than stock with some nice thread on it , but not like off-road dont do much of that just want something to perform well if i do.Also about the tire size In the future im planing to get a programmer maybe by that time the Diablo predator will be out.I hope it can adjust to tire zise.

What size tires do you have now? Use the calculator to compare the two to see the actual difference. http://www.dakota-truck.net/TIRECALC/tirecalc.htmlI think it would be a great idea. My 20's do fine, even with some mild off-roading. There are a bunch of tires out there from top-of-the-line BFG's at $400 a pop to stock Gdyr HP's which did fine for me on the street but the y really sucked in the winter so I'm upgrading to Gdyr Silent Armor's. From what you have described of how you use the truck, I wouldn't bother with Nitto's, Toyo's, BFG's or any other aggressive AT. A decent Michelin would be a good street tire and wear real well. Just type the tire size into Tire Rack and check out the different styles and brands. I would say an all season hwy tire would be good for you.

20" better handling on pavement, maybe a touch bouncier on speedbumps, potholes, etc., but over-all better performance. A joke off-road, bordering on dangerous in some situations, 17's far superior, as a matter of fact, I'd love to be able to go down to 15's on my truck for off road.

I think i see da picture, i actually dont do much off road. I just really like the newer rims dodge came out with. Im just rying to find out if there may be any issues putting the 2006 rims ona 2003 Ram. Everyone is saying its cool , actually better.
