Feedback on the price of a new Ram 2500
Hi everyone,
I am new to the board as well as to Dodge trucks. I think I have settled on the truck that I more than likely will purchase: 2007 Ram 2500, 4x4, Hemi ,Quad cab, and a long bed. The truck has the Thunderroad group as well as a snow plow prep package. The total sticker priceon the truck is$38,000. When I was talking price the lowest they would go was $29,700. Is that a fair deal? Any feedback? Also what kind of MPG's can I expect with the abovenoted truck? How many miles can I get out of the 35 gallon tank? Also are there some general pro's and con's to the above noted truck?
Thank you,
Zack

I own a 1500 Hemi. If I was to get a 2500, I would go TCD all the way. Of course it all depends on what you want to do with it, but in my eyes a 2500 is a HD truck. Everything about it is heavier and designed to deal with the punishment a 3/4 ton should be able to take. The Hemi is a great engine and all the guys and gals here will tell you, but it cant match to the ability of the TCD. Also, before you buy it, think of what you want to do with it. If you want to tow, haul and push, go with the 2500. If you want to pull light (every once in a while) and not load as much go with the 1500. The Hemi is a gas gussler and if you load it, it will be even worse. The TCD can easy give you 21-23 (empty truck) MPG if you MOD it and will easy give you 17 - 19 MPG when towing a decent size load. If you look around you could get a 2500 for a bit less with a few miles in it. Also, you can easily get a 2500 TCD with about 30 to 40k for that price is very good shape. Now, dont take me wrong.. I LOVE my truck and I love the Hemi - but I dont use my truck for heavy work.. my truck is my toy the only heavy work it gets is when I tow my UL Camper.

you may want to wait another month or so on that truck, i bought mine in july of '04 and they had just started offering big rebates, then shortly after they offered same rebates w/ 0 financing. the '07 isn't going to get more expensive...but if that's the one you want and can't find another like it, go ahead.
i've got the same thing in 1/2 ton, wish now that i'd gotten a 3/4 ton, i want the extra payload but didn't think about it at the time of purchase. i'd also like a solid front axle and not a torsion bar ifs. i'm getting 11 in town and 17 on the highway. witht the 35 gal tank, i've gone just over 400 miles before. it sucks to drain the tank though, 35 gal at $3/gal...puts a big dent in the beer fund.
now, after 3 years, i've got mine on the market....it's been over 3 weeks and haven't had a single call, i guess there isn't much of a demand for my truck. if it sells i'm getting a mega-cab diesel, that'll get me more cab room for kids, more payload/towing, and occasionally better mileage.

That is a excellent price. I bought my Hemi 2500 for more off road use( it is a animal off road)but I also pull a 21' bass boat regularly without any problems. The Hemiis quicker and lighterthan the diesel and to modify a diesel to be as quick as the Hemi will void your factory warranty. MPG's will be about 13-17 with that truck. I have noticed that is you baby or really hammer the 2500HD hemi, the MPG's are about the same. I would go for it if I were you for that price. I paid more for my truck.

RE: Feedback on the price of a new Ram 2500
I have the 2500.. I went on the dodge site to price out a CTD but found it way out of my price range... 43000 or something like that... and it didn't have everything I wanted on it. The hemi is a sweet engine, and the 2500 is a sweet truck. If you are doing a lot of haulin I would get the CTD, it will pay off in the long run. If you are only doing occasional heavy or more constant light hauling then I would stick I just get the Hemi. Mine was stickered close to 34000, with the tow, plow and HD packages, and got it for 27500... during the employee pricing thing a couple years back. So, 29--- isn't really a bad price. F'em, low ball them a little more. You can do it. I don't know what the max size tank you can go on a 1500 but the 34 gallon tank on the 2500 gets me about 340 to 360 a tank. And that is with the SC and the 91+ octane. I got 270 to 290 on the 87 or 89. I do a lot of city driving and I like to play a lot. I am not easy on my gas milage. But gas prices are the cost of entertainment to me, so oh well.
