Default Cleaned MAF Sensor 4-5 MPG Better

I changed my air filter with a MOPAR air filter no change in MPG. Then I saw this guy on "AutoWeek" cleaning his MAF sensor. After pulling the sensor it was caked with oil and dirt. I usedMAF Sensor cleaner and my03 RAM 2500 HEMI is now getting 4-5 MPG better than before! The truck went from 11.2 to 15.9 MPG on the highway.

Good to know. Where did you get the cleaner? How much did it run you?

What was the mileage on your truck prior to cleaning the MAF sensor? I have an '05 1500 with 20,000. Just wondering if it's worthwhile cleaning it now or waiting.

As far as I know, our trucks dont have MAF sensors.Maybe the 2500's do.Do you mean the IAT sensor? an intake sensor? I checked the service manual and it does not mention a MAF. Where is the sensor that you cleaned?
Thanks.

I cleaned my IAT sensor with alcohol trying to improve my 9-10 mpg city and 11 mpg highway returns. So far, no improvement. Wish I had a logger to tell me what was being reported by the stock sensor. Otherwise my only choice is to blindly buy a new sensor hoping it'll help.

eltupac hit it on the head. Sorry but we don't have a MAF sensor. We use a speed density system. You are referring to the Autoweek show where Pat Goss showed it, aren't you?Yeaah, the speed density system is the reason the CAI's and simple crap like that have much less effect on our engines then the MAF ones.
