replaceing the stock muffler will help alot but many have changed the whole set up from the cat back. If money is an option, you can just change the muffler to a performance muffler and lose all the restrictions of the barrel of a muffler that dodge put on. If you want the dual set up, you will have to buy a whole kit or goto a good welder that can bend and mount the pipes. This could get expensive though. For the money, the dual setup is more for looks. You still have a single into the muffler but have 2 outs. Now if you are going true duals from headers back, then this is a whole new discussion.

bottom line is what is the best bang for the buck? What would be the set up to do? if dual exhaust is just for the looks its not worth the money. thanks for your time

If you want the best performance from simply changing the exhaust (meaning not getting into turbos and such), and money isn't an issue, go from the headers back making a true dual exhaust... new headers, new cats, new pipe, new mufflers, everything.

I don't have pics but I have the 50 series muffler single in dual out. I liked the dual out look better than the single and spent way to much money on other things to go headers back all new. Mine is cat back only. The 2 reasons that I went with the dual is that one, I like the look, and 2 since the muffler is 3in in and 2.5 in out, I did not want to take the chance on bottle necking the flow out of the muffler. Going with the dual outs eliminates this problem and I paid something like $650 installed. One last thing, when shopping for an exhaust make sure that either the part says Mega cab specific or QC 2500 long bed. The part number for my exhaust is 17369 from flowmaster.
